Roc Nation Sued By Volcom Over Trademark Infringement

Jay-Z‘s Roc Nation label and management firm has been sued over trademark infringement. Volcom, a California-based clothing company, has stepped to the Nation over the use of their diamond in the company logo and trademark.

Volcom alleges the following, “While Roc Nation appears to have initially used the diamond only in combination with the words ‘Roc Nation’ it is now using the diamond log on its own, causing a likelihood of confusion among consumers.”

While Volcom claims they have invested over $100,000 in building their own trademark, there is no word yet on the monetary damages sought in the suit.

AllHipHop.com has copies of the documents. Roc Nation has yet to comment publicly.

Roc Nation is presently the label home to Jay-Z, J. Cole and Willow Smith. The company also manages the careers of Samantha Ronson, D-Nice and now Mick Boogie.

    1. jay electronica is also signed to roc nation. but a site solely dedicated to hip hop would have probably missed that…

      1. You know the only reason Jayz signed Jay Electronica was so he could keep his ass from being able to release anything. That way Jayz stays on top even longer.

    2. ahahahahahaha

That’s what he gets. Suing people when this Camel spent his whole career jacking people’s names, lyrics and concepts.

      Go get em Volcom

    3. In 2005, the rapper and mogul was sued by the wrestler Diamond Dallas Page for throwing a diamond ‘hand sign’ to represent the Roc-A-Fella “Dynasty,” saying it was too similar to Page’s “Diamond Cutter” hand signal.

In 2007, Jay-Z agreed to pay the wrestler an undisclosed sum.

      Ha!
