50 Cent continues to work on his fifth solo album, to be called Black Magic. In an interview with MTV he revealed what producers he’d worked with so far; Swizz Beatz, The Cataracs, Boi-1da, and Alex Da Kid. Also dropping hints that he may be in the studio with Kanye soon.
50 also spoke about G-Unit emcee Lloyd Banks, whose third album drops November 22. 50 played less of a role on this album than he did on Banks’ previous, “this is his indepedence day, you know what I’m saying? Not just selling the CD independently because he’s operating on my pocket, so it’s not a traditional budget. But just him being on his own, I consciously stayed away from the record more to create a stronger distance so people would identify with his talent on this project.”
In the summertime 50 revealed to Tim Westwood that he had something new up his sleeve for Black Magic. “I’ve got a joint that I did that was real uptempo,” he explained. “It’s still 50 Cent…[for] my Black Magic album, I’ve been listening to a lot of different kinds of music. I just want to create something that’s out of the box, that ain’t the same style of music or same kinds of music [that I normally make]. I’m using different song formats…it’s still hip-hop music, it’s still 50 Cent content, it’s just written in a different way [from the traditional 16 bar format].”

That isn’t all though, he’s also changed how he’s working with other artists. “I made collaborations [but] this time, I actually just wanted to create things and see if anything came out that I felt like other artists should get on,” explained 50. “My previous albums, I went in the studio with them — this time I’m making music and then trying to find ways to put them on the records. It’s more me even when it’s a collaboration. It’s them fitting into what I felt was right now as opposed to us making a total compromise.”
