Lupe Fiasco Says That Kanye West’s New Track “Don’t Stop” Is Two Years Old

Since the release of May, 2007’s “Us Placers” , Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco and Pharrell Williams have sporadically recorded together as C.R.S., or Child Rebel Soldier. With a brief check-in on 2008’s “Everybody Nose (Remix)” to N*E*R*D’s Seeing Sounds, the group had not reformed publically until last week’s G.O.O.D Friday leak, “Don’t Stop” .

In the wake of Lupe Fiasco’s olive branch with Atlantic Records last week, and Pharrell’s present touring with The Gorillaz, West deemed “Don’t Stop” a topical leak in his growing list of free giveaways. However, Lupe Fiasco recently revealed to MTV News that the record is from 2008.

“That song is like a song that we did in the midst of being C.R.S. when we were actually going to put out an album,” said Lupe. He continued, “[We] really wanted to test records and see if we should do more records like that, or should we do more records like ‘Us Placers’ or … more down-low records, up-top records. We were just trying to figure out what should we do and that was one of the experiments that was bananas.”
