MTV usually kicks off the new year in style. Past musical performances have included Xzibit, No Doubt and many other artists from varying genres. This year, hip hop will be represented by many of the night’s performers.
Kanye West and Common will be present as part of the G.O.O.D. Music family. The Snowman, Young Jeezy will also perform. Aside from these artists, Adam Levigne, (From Maroon 5) a guest on Kanye’s album will also make an appearance on stage.
Columbian shaker Shakira, Fall Out Boy and The All American Rejects will round out the performers for the evening’s festivities.
Although it may not be on stage, legendary MC Rev. Run has already confirmed that he will make an appearance as well.
The hip-hop news for the new year doesn’t end there.
Throughout the night, fans will watch cameras as they follow Ludacris on a big give-away. The Southern Hospitality rapper gave out athletic equipment, school supplies and instruments to kids in Massachusetts and fans will be able to follow him on his trip.
MTV’s New Year of Music party will begin live at 10:30 pm ET December 31.
If that isn’t enough, other artists are also planning to ring in the new year with style.
On another channel, Mimi aka Mariah Carey will be live from Times Square. Her performance will be for Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve which will air on ABC, as usual.
Other performers on ABC include Chris Brown, Sean Paul, Hillary Duff, 311 and 3 Doors Down to name a few.
