Hip Hop Album Sales: Week Ending 6/22/08

    This week, Lil Wayne gets bumped out of the #1 spot by Coldplay‘s highly anticipated debut of Viva La Vida which sold 721,200 copies this week. The Carter III, though no longer in the top spot, still sold a very respectable 308,500 in its second week on the charts. PliesDefinition of Real, which made a surprising debut at #2 last week, fell to #5 with 67,700 copies sold this week. Usher‘s latest effort, Here I Stand, driven by his hit single “Love in this club”, took the #6 spot with 64,900 sold. Rihanna‘s re-release of Good Girl Gone Bad–complete with new tracks– re-enters the charts at #7 proving that her latest album is far from losing steam. Further down the charts N.E.R.D falls to #20 with Seeing Sounds selling 23,600 units.

    Corporate Thugz Entertainment artist Blood Raw debuted CTE Presents: My life, The True Testimony at #30 this week with 17,300 sold. Universal artist 2 Pistols takes the #33 spot with 15,700 copies sold of his debut Death Before Dishonor. Flobots fall out of the top 40 and land at #41 this week with Fight With Tools selling just under 13,800. Bun B‘s II Trill follows behind at #43 with 13,300 sold. Further down the charts at #55 Rick Ross sells 11,200 copies of Trilla.
