Hip Hop Album Sales: The Week Ending 3/7/2009

    U2‘s No Line On The Horizon reminded all why the three-decade band is a top musical draw, bumping Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and Nickelback. In a constant claw among five or six urban artists for the top spot, J RecordsJamie Foxx did just that with his Intuition [click to read]. Beyonce followed two spots and 2,000 units behind with her I Am…Sasha Fierce [click to read].

    T.I.‘s [click to read] Paper Trail [click to read] topped Kanye West‘s 808’s & Heartbreak [click to read] in a race decided by less than a 1,000 units for Top 10 status. Keyshia Cole remained strong another week with her A Different Me [click to read].

    The release was followed by Joe Budden‘s [click to read] second official retail album, Padded Room [click to read]. The project fell over 130 spots from its first to second week.

    Lil Wayne [click to read] sold just under 15,000 copies of Tha Carter III [click to read], placing him at #31 this past week, with just over three million in gross sales. He also appeared twice, courtesy of DJ Drama‘s release of Dedication 3, which has eclipsed the 50,000 mark, a feat for legal, independent mixtapes
