Later this year, will.i.am and his label are going to be releasing Kelis’ first album since her highly-publicized split with Nas.
Lil Wayne‘s Rebirth may reach gold before the New Orleans-born super-star sees jail-time. The Cash Money/Universal Motown release remains in the Top 5, as Wayne suggests that a video will surface within a month of his collaboration with Eminem for “Drop The World” 
. With radio support for that as a single, Rebirth could have platinum potential.
Two R&B acts closed out the Top 10 last week. Alicia Keys‘ Element Of Freedom readies for a new single and perhaps more traction while Jaheim’s Another Round heads towards 200,000 units. The 31 year-old New Jersey native’s album features Jadakiss on the “Ain’t Leavin’ Without You (Remix)” from his fifth album.

Free’s first “official” independent album, this on the Minneapolis-based Rhymesayers label was supported with a whole album’s worth of production from Seattle’s most prolific producer, Jake One. The album features guest appearances from Beanie Sigel, Young Chris, Raekwon and Freeway’s latest label employer, Birdman.
Gold Dust/K7 Records released a compilation of largely recycled and alternate tracks from various Wu-Tang Clan members. All produced by longtime Method Man deejay and “Mighty Healthy” producer Mathematics, Return of the Wu & Friends was a notable appearance from the label home to Zion I, Soul Asssasins and Crown City Rockers. The compilation, which includes rare work from Ol’ Dirty Bastard, scanned nearly 3,500 first week units on the indie.
New Orleans Funk/Jazz outfit Galactic‘s eighth album Ya Ka May fell 48 spots to close out the Top 200. The Anti Records group told DX that they are soon to be at work on a full length album with former Jurassic 5 emcee Chali 2na.

They are both a little over 400k and 50 has a Euro tour coming up then a major U.S. tour so his album will easily reach 500k this summer and probably 550k by the end of the year.. i was watching 106 and park yesterday and 50 surprisingly had one of the best songs on the countdown.. 6 out of 10 songs were recycled down south bounce music…It was like they were playing the same song over and over again..

The reason why i call you ignorant is because you assume you and your ignorant friends assume that I don’t judge a rappers worth by talent…. I have over 4,000 albums…. From 1980-2010… I have a range of underground New York rappers you’ve never heard of all the way up to Puff Daddy and everything in between… Maybe you haven’t noticed record companies are putting less and less effort and money into the production of rap music… That can’t be denied.. And we all know the internet is killing the industry.. We can get any song we want for free in 30 seconds.. If the majority it fans don’t stop downloading for free and start buying(cd or Itunes) rap music will become non-profitable and will definitely not be a high priority on any record execs list..

If you read up on the success rap music has had in the past 5 years compared to the previous 15 years you will see that the rap industry is slowly melting away.. Duck Down is a perfect example of this. These cats have been putting out bangaz for over a decade and have a massive underground following who go out and support their music which is definitely an example of true hip hop. Rae’s OBFCL2 is another example. Dude’s LP is doing great numbers without one song in airplay rotation.
