Often times, one is able to hear Tony Montana and Tony Soprano refferences in rap songs. Now, some Hip Hop artists will be closer to the drama than ever before as several emcees are set to join the cast of HBO’s The Sopranos.
According to the Rap News Network, Treach (of Naughty By Nature) and Lord Jamar of Brand Nubian will make appearances in this season of the long-running critically acclaimed cable drama.
Since Soprano scripts are kept top secret, information as to what characters the emcees will play is sketchy.
This is the last season of the television program.
In other news, Rolling Stone reports that J Dilla will be honored by many at Radio Music Hall. The Roots will headline a two-day benefit in honor of the late producer. Others who will join The Roots, include Nas, Talib Kweli and Common on May 18. The next day, Erykah Badu, Mos Def and more will take the stage.
The Roots’ new album The Game Theory will be dropping later this year.
