The once big-haired girl from Harlem, who shocked the world with the words, “I hate you, so much right now,” and was the mysterious voice behind countless Hip Hop tracks from the late 90’s and early millennium, will be captured in a “hits” album early next month.

Star Trak/Jive/Legacy has decided to release a 14-song compilation album, Kelis- The Hits, featuring 14 tracks from her four album career in the US and UK. Set for release on March 11, 2008 the album will include past collaborations with Gnarls Barkley, Andre 3000, Nas, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Too $hort, N.E.R.D. and Richard X.

Kelis- The Hits, is an album displaying her career from 1999-2006. Songs were pulled from Kaleidoscope (1999), Wanderland (2001, Unreleased in the U.S.), Tasty (2004), and most recent Kelis Was Here (2006) and from several other albums, which featured her collaborations. Best known for her 2003/2004 hit, “Milkshake,” 2006’s “Bossy” and in the Hip Hop community as the wife of Nas, the album also includes liner notes from Leah Rose of XXL Magazine.

“Tasty’s biggest triumph, however, was the album’s first single ‘Milkshake.’ Tracked by the Neptunes, the chart-topping sing-along was an instant smash and propelled Kelis’ third LP up the Billboard Top 200; it also earned her a Grammy nomination in 2004 for best Urban/Alternative performance. Soon Tasty was certified gold, marking Kelis’ first plaque in the United States.”
