HHDX News Bits (DPG, Hell Rell & The Roots)

Though members of the original crew like Kurupt, Daz and Snoop are making moves on their own, they’re also doing their best to bring in a new crop of like minded newcomers.

Winners of the crew’s DPGC Idol contest from two years ago, six emcees—Meko aka Mr. Murder, Dangerous Rob, Montana, 45, J-Tripz and Chaotic—have combined to make the crew DP Next Generation. Their currently untitled debut album has production by Nitti, who’s primarily known for Yung Joc’s “It’s Goin Down.”

Dipset‘s Hell Rell has announced a May 27th release date for his upcoming album, Black Mask & Gloves.

The album, which is the follow-up to 2007’s For the Hell of It, will be released on Babygrande Records, home to artists such as Hi-Tek, JR Writer, Jedi Mind Tricks, GZA and Immortal Technique. Though this is only Hell Rell‘s second album, the rapper was also featured on Diplomat releases Diplomatic Immunity, Diplomatic Immunity 2, and Dipset’s More Than Music Vol. 1 & 2.

As The Roots prepare their latest dish for an April 29th release date, the band has decided to hit the road.  ?uestlove has described their 10th studio album, titled Rising Down, as his “favorite baby.” Will it live up to the hype?
