With the ever-growing popularity and presence of social networks including Facebook and Myspace, Alicia Keys is looking to capitalize off of these formats to find a backup singer.
According to her Myspace page, the Grammy-winning performer is looking for female singers with experience in R&B or Soul, aged between 21 and 30, and physically fit with the ability to dance.
In her one-minute video, Keys first expressed her intent on looking for exclusive talent to accompany herself on her upcoming tour.
“I’m getting ready to hit the road with my ‘As I Am’ world tour [and] I’m looking for a brand new background singer,” she began.
Explaining the details and offer for interested females to record themselves, she further explained the outcome after deciding the winner.
“Me and my team are going to pick one specially talented person to come with me on the road. If you win, you get to [perform] with me in Japan, China, Atlanta, Miami—all across the world,” she promised.
The contest will run until May 5th with all submissions having to be 30 seconds or longer of themselves singing a capella and submitted through her Myspace page, http://www.myspace.com/aliciakeys.
R&B singer Mary J. Blige and Hip Hop music executive Steve Stoute is set to launch a new organization that inspires and motivates women.
FFAWN, The Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation For the Advancement of Women Now, Inc, will makes its impact by inspiring women to reach their individual goals through scholarships, grants and programs that foster strong self-esteem, career development and personal growth, in addition to gaining the confidence and skills needed to achieve success.
Founded by queen of R&B, the new organization will start with targeting its efforts in the singer’s hometown of Yonkers and the surrounding communities in Westchester. The future of FFAWN will expand to new heights, conquering Greater New York and eventually the rest of the nation.
Kendu Isaacs, Jada Pinkett Smith, Charles Wright, Lisa Price and Samantha Fink will be on the FFAWN board of directors, in addition to Blige and Stoute.
The pair will officially launch FFAWN this Friday (May 9) during a press conference at Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, New York.
Stoute, who recently appointed Jay-Z chairman to his advertising agency, Stoute‘s Translation Consultation and Brand Imaging, now jointly owns 51 percent of the company with the rap mogul.
In addition to launching the new organization, Blige is currently on tour with Jay-Z and was most recently named one of People magazine’s 100 Most Beautiful People.
