Gucci Mane Speaks After Leaving Jail

Gucci Mane is no longer behind bars. After exiting the Fulton County Jail just after midnight, the rapper spoke to reporters on the scene, reading from a prepared statement.

He began by thanking his legal team and his fans and acknowledged mistakes he’s made. He added that he’s learned a lot in the process and that he hopes to make positive changes.

“Unfortunately, my incarceration also came at a pivotal point in my career, just as my first major label album was dropping. I was forced to miss what should have been one of the proudest moments of my life. This is something that I will make sure never happens again. My time in jail was trying, but I grew from it and am now a stronger and better person. I want to continue on a positive track and truly focus on being a role model to my fans and my community. I am looking towards the future with a newfound respect and appreciation for the law and a strong dedication to my music and my career. With that in mind, I have already begun to make positive strides towards the future. I have launched a new label, 1017 Brick Squad Records in affiliation with Asylum/Warner Brothers Records, and I am working with a new team. I’m looking forward to get back to business.”

He went on to say that he’s already started making positive strides.

“I am looking forward to getting back to business and to start making hits. I am extremely excited about my new album, The Appeal, which will be dropping at the end of the summer. Over the course of 2010, 1017 Brick Squad records will also be releasing albums from my artist Wacka Flocka Flame as well as my group Brick Squad, which features Wacka, OJ Da Juiceman and myself. In July, I will be heading out on a nationwide tour, hitting venues across the country and continuing the movement.

He continued by saying “substance” is needed in “the Rap game” and that he’s ready to become the best rapper out, challenging others to release their best work this summer.

Gucci still has community service to take care of but his release came at a date much sooner than expected.

    1. how is gucci mane gonna talk about rap needing substance? isnt this the guy that has like 400 songs about selling cocaine and all his cars?

    2. Not the biggest fan of Gucci but good for him on the release. Curious to see how he follows up his last album.

    3. It’s feels good to be out of jail(and I would know), but who really cares, this dudes music is horrific.

    4. somebody tell this nigga his album already dropped and flopped.

its over. get back to the pots and pans, rap is done with you nigga.

matter fact, the judge should hit this nigga with a yardstick for tryin to rhyme. 3 year sentence for being a wack nigga. thats fair.

    5. He needs to drop a mixtape asap as his album got little to zero notice…. T.I will be on Larry King Live tonight at 9 p.m est for his first post- prison interview.

    6. Good for him. Never really paid much attention to his stuff, but I was intrigued with his verse he did with Wale. And then, I heard his last verse on that “Beat It Up” song, he was stringing his words quite nicely. Pretty darn impressive.

    7. What the fuck is “Buurrrrprint”?? Sad thing is that there’s probably Gucci stans out there who are gonna be saying burrrr in the clubs and shit.

    8. Hell Yah, My Nigg ( Gucci ] Finally Out.

    13. I am absolutely perplexed by the “E” at the end of Gucci Mane.

When ever I think of Gucci Mane, I think of a horse with a mane that has gucci print on it…Actually that would be a fly ass horse…But for this nigga it aint workin…Substance? This coon blows money on about 20 ridiculous chains that he wears AT THE SAME TIME! Back in tha day niggas that did shit like that was tryin to hard, and got they ass whipped 4 bein such a fuckin noodle.

Also Gucci isn’t from west africa either…Dumb Gucci “Mane” followers wouldn’t even know what I meant by that. Coon as Nigga

    14. gucci mane is the realest dude in hip hop. he a gamer. real dude ready to take over the game, real dude keeping it real, making hit after hit, heat rockets to fuel the fire, real dude, real g

      1. Real? U mean glorifying the fact he is destroying the integrity of his own race by selling drugs? Running around with 20 chains on which could have been better spent given back to the hood? Polluting hip-hop with wordplay that can be considered nothing less than illiterate? The inability to stay out of prison and then brag about gettin knocked or beating a murder? Great role model.

Yeah He a real nigga I guess. Ever heard of the phrase “when keepin it real, goes wrong?” That’s Gucci Mane’s life.

    15. Gucci Mane is funny. So you really going to make sure this doesn’t happen again. Haha, I guarantee Gucci Lame will be back in prison in a year or two. And Gucci, you’ve never been a role model, if you are one, you’re not a good one. All his music does is promote coonery and drug dealing. Rap does need more substance, but Gucci Mane (aka counterfeit boi) lacks any substance whatsoever. Once he retires, people will remember him as one of the worst rappers ever.
