green-label.com Lists “Hip Hop Album Sequels We’d Love To Hear”

green-label.com has released its list of “Hip Hop Album Sequels We’d Love To Hear.” The site says that follow-up albums are tricky undertakings.

“The prospect of following up an outstanding work not only builds unreasonable expectations, but also creates the possibility of tarnishing the legacy of the original work,” the green-label.com article says. “Although, when sequels work well, it’s among the most satisfying feelings a fan can have. Take The Godfather II, for example, which operates as a flawless companion piece to the original, providing context and further fleshing out characters.”

A second installment of Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city, is the #1 album on green-label.com’s list.

“Kendrick Lamar’s good kid, m.A.A.d city is a modern storytelling masterpiece, so why not follow it up where the album left off?” green-label.com says. “Possible topics could include reconciling Kendrick’s past life with his newly minted stardom, and the pressures and expectations brought on by his early success. There are endless directions Kendrick could take his narrative, which may be what makes this possibility so tantalizing.”

    1. In theory this is a good idea, but I would hope it wouldn’t happen. GKMC is considered precious and it’s not worth tampering.

      1. its rated jsut fdine, I’m not a kendrick fan but I think it’s objectively one of the 20 best hp hop albums of all time.

      1. it’s not the best I have heard but certainly top 5 in hip hop with all eyez on me, illmatic, ready to die and maybe RD

    2. I don’t know if kednrick can make a sequel to good kid maad city, it’s like illmatic, would be hard to do , a real challenge.

      1. he needs to release something different, good kid is already oneof the best albums in music history but he needs to prove that he can do it again

    3. he needs to go back to s80. gkmc is a classic and probably one of the best albums of the last 10 years but I want something new tbh

    4. don’t know if he can do it again, he can release other classic sfor sure bu ta masterpiece like gkmc ? na. nas will never make another illmatic, kendrick will never make another gkmc, it’s the rap thriller.

    5. Amazing album. When I listen to it, it was more than music, it was a story of a person just like me with dreams, fear, dangers, trouble, happiness, adolescence and maturity. He stayed true to his roots he kept it original but different. God bless Kendrick Lamar and hip hop.

    6. Good god, I havent heard an album like this in a GOOD minute. I will actually purchase this rather than download it. If hip hop artist pumped out more stuff like this, labels could move units like it was ’98.

      A sequel would be amazing

    7. no he has to let gkmc breath.

This album will go down as one of the best albums of all time for any genre just like Illmatic, Reasonable Doubt, Ready to Die and the other rap albums that are considered the best of all time. When those albums came out we didn’t understand how great they because were very young at the time. Now we have a chance to witness a classic and a legend in the making. The storytelling is amazing. It’s like a movie. You can’t just listen to a couple of songs or skip through. You have to listen straight through from beginning to end.
