After being below the radar for a few years now, Grand Puba is back. Last appearing on Brand Nubian’s reunion album, “Foundation,” GP preping his third solo LP. “Understand This” is set to drop on November 6th on Koch Records. GP produced the entire album and the only guest appearances are by fellow Nubian’s Sadat X and Lord Jamar. GP says that long-time fans will be in for a bit of a surprise with the new album because it is a party album.
“It’s got a lot of energy, something that will grab people’s attention, ” Puba says about the album. “It’s loud. I’m spitting a lot of flows and talking a little bit about me. It’s a party thing that can get them amped up.”
Puba also mentioned why he decided to produce the whole album himself, saying that he “had to go back to what got me to this point. I don’t have any problem with any other producers. I like a lot of people’s work, but sometimes you’ve got to customize your beat to who you are.”
