GM Lists Top Ten Songs To Test A Car’s Sound System

General Motors audio engineer Matt Kirsch has released a list of the top 10 songs for testing car audio quality, reports USA Today.

Hip Hop heads may presume the list to be rife with the ultra-clean production of Dr. Dre or the eclectic yet hard-hitting sounds of Timbaland, or perhaps the unmistakable energetic thump behind Swizz Beatz’ musical concoctions. Not so, according to Kirsch.

The first two slots on the list belong to “Don’t Know Why” by Norah Jones and “Diamonds and Rust” by Joan Baez. “No One” by Alicia keys comes in at number three, with Kirsch explaining, “Listen for clarity in Alicia’s vocals and spacious background sound.”

The only other remotely Hip Hop act on the list, which includes Imogen Heap, Johnny Cash and Radiohead, is the Black Eyed Peas, who come in at numbers five and six, with “Boom Boom Pow” and “Rock that Body,” respectively.

“Listen for powerful, accurate bass beats, even at full volume,” says Kirsch of “Boom Boom Pow.” He also explained his choice of “Rock that Body,” saying, “Listen clear, intelligible lyrics over the powerful, persistent bass beat.”

      1. haha well shit kids got some kind of point dont kno bout the whole car thing but shit look at that list im gon listen to a fucking piano to test my stereo ahaha that halarious how bout a fucking song with a little bass.

    1. black eyed peas remotely hip hop? you are effin retarded. they have been putting in so much underground backpack hip hop work since the 90s! will.i.am has produced for nas et. al. they have done hip hop benefit shows. these guys are sooo HipHop. GTFOH!

    2. If u are testing your brand new sound system by playing the black eyed peas you should get knocked unconscience by the airbag from the force of driving your car off a cliff…p.s no matter how u wanna phrase it will i am is the gayest buffoon in pop today..will i am and hip hop do not belong in the same sentence…just cause of his beginnings it don’t give him a pass..wearing mandex, shmedium t shirts and making garbage pop music??pass

      1. Do some reasearch on will i am, hes more gangster than 90% of the rappers out there.

dude was discovered by Eazy E when he was 16 and did tones of ghost writing for him back in the day along with the writing Cube was doing for him also.

      2. slow your roll anonymous you simple fuck. it’s true will.i.am was signed to ruthless back in the day and was on the 5150 EP put out by eazy in ’92 under the name will x. but he didn’t do “tons of ghostwriting for him”. his gay little group he was a part of back then never mobilized and put out an album. they just rotted in the ruthless closet because they lacked enough composure to put an album together. that is the true story of will.i.am early career.

oh yeah and ice cube’s last ghostwriting work was done in ’89. where he along with mc ren wrote for nwa covering dre and eazy. ice cube left in ’90, dre left in ’92 (and got snoop dogg to write a classic album). so it was not at the same time, will.i.am and ice cube were not even close to fucking with each other. it was years apart and years into a beef that was running with cube and ruthless records.

you’re just a retard anonymous. the people that ghostwrote for eazy in the early ’90’s were: the d.o.c., mc ren, gangsta dresta and bg knocc out. these were the big guys writing songs and shit, others just threw in scraps.

    3. GM used to the biggest car maker in the world and now theyve been passed by Toyota and Volks Wagon.

they’re just circling the bowl now.

    4. 1. Reasonable Doubt for that jazzy sound
      2. Get Rich or Die Tryin for that bass heavy
      3. All Eyez on Me for the vocals
      4. Wu Tang Forever for that tremble
      5. Teflon Don for that clear cut clarity

      That should be the list

      1. Pop music isn’t inherently bad. The Black Eyed Peas are.

But “pop” just means “popular”. It doesn’t necessarily mean “no violence or swearing”. Eminem and Radiohead both have more fucked-up shit going on in their music than most underground artists do.
