Gillie Da Kid has recreated former Detroit Pistons star Chauncey Billups’ classic SLAM Magazine cover with a comedic twist as only the podcast host could do.

Gillie and Wallo pulled up to the SLAM headquarters earlier this week where Gillie fully embraced his Chauncey Gillups alter-ego and remade the Billups 2006 cover.

The 2004 NBA Finals MVP was even FaceTime’d into the room and he couldn’t stop laughing at Gillie’s hilarious rendition of the cover sporting a similar mustache and bald head to Billups.

“Oh you doing the SLAM joint? That is funny man,” the Portland Trail Blazers head coach said over FaceTime after getting a look at Gillie Da Kid in the Pistons-colored “Gillups” jersey. “Ay, you got the stache and all that.”

Gillie replied: “I’m just doing a SLAM joint. I live up to my name. I just wanted you to see that real quick… You know I’m Damian Gillard, I’m Chauncey Gillups and I’m Gilbert Arenas.”

Gillie Da Kid reposted a portion of the clip to his Instagram earlier this week and Billups’ Pistons teammate Rip Hamilton had a laugh in the comment section along with DJ Clue.

Billups’ 2006 cover served the 98th SLAM Magazine issue which arrived ahead of the ’06 season and put the point guard’s MVP aspirations front-and-center.

The NBA star previously covered SLAM in 2004 after the Detroit Pistons upset the Los Angeles Lakers and took home the 2004 championship where Billups won MVP honors.

On a more serious matter, Gillie Da Kid called on the city of Philadelphia to stop the violence as a devastating shooting during the July 4th holiday took the lives of five people, including a 15-year-old boy.

“We looking real sad out here, Philly,” Gillie began. “Eight n-ggas shot outside out West, four n-ggas dead, two kids, shot somebody grandmom. When the fuck n-ggas’ kids and grandmoms been on the menu? When is n-ggas’ grandmoms and kids been on the menu, man?

“There was a time you seen a n-gga and was beefing with a n-gga, you seen him with his kids and give him the, ‘Oh, you lucky you with your kids, bitch.’ Because you didn’t even want that type of karma on you because the kids ain’t have nothing to do with this shit.”

He continued: “And you n-ggas isn’t even beefing over no fucking money! You mean to tell me you finna go to jail, sit in jail for a thousand years for shooting n-ggas that you didn’t even mean to shoot? And it ain’t even about no money!

“C’mon man. We gotta get to the old Philly, man, where n-ggas was into getting money. N-ggas was into getting bitches … being fly and n-ggas didn’t want no muthafuckin’ trouble…you n-ggas shooting n-ggas about Instagram captions, man.”
