Gillie Da Kid Argues Why LeBron James Is Greater Than Kobe Bryant

Gillie Da Kid has no doubts about LeBron James’ cross-generational dominance, and the rapper-turned-host has asserted his position by comparing the athlete to one of his most formidable rivals, Kobe Bryant.

Choosing the GOAT NBA player can seem impossible to many given the league’s exceptional talent pool and storied history, but some people have their minds firmly made up. The Million Dollaz Worth Of Game co-host, for example, has his answer ready — and he brought receipts.

During an It Is What It Is appearance on Thursday (November 9), the 39-year-old made it clear that he places Michael Jordan above everybody else in professional basketball. For the second spot, however, he made a compelling case in favor of King James.

“Nobody had more pressure on them to succeed than LeBron James,” he began. “He was on the cover of like Sports Illustrated in like the 10th grade or something, bro.”

After drawing a side-by-side contrast between Bron and Bean, the Philly native emphasized how the former has been the main character on every team since the very beginning.

“LeBron James ain’t never walked into a muthafucking NBA locker room and put a Robin uniform on. He always was Batman,” Gillie continued. “Kobe was Robin to Shaq’s Batman. Shaq won all the fuckin’ MVPs, Shaq won all the Finals MVPs.”

This is not the first time a Hip Hop figure has been asked for his all-time NBA picks. Earlier this year, Lil Wayne ranked his top-three players in the league’s history, and the results weren’t that surprising.

During an All the Smoke podcast appearance in June, Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson asked Weezy the big question. After taking a minute to gather himself, the New Orleans native reeled off: “Bron, Mike and Kobe.”

He explained that LBJ’s longevity and current statistics are tough to overlook, even though he has fewer championship rings than the other two.

“I don’t know Bron personally so my answer for Bron would be from afar,” he began. “My answer for Bron is on the court. I loved Jordan for the way he always won. As a kid, you don’t know too much about the ins and outs of the game.

“I got old enough to know how hard it is to fucking do it back-to-back-to-back. So that’s where he started getting his respect with me to where he’s the greatest. It’s very hard to do, and that n-gga Bron did that shit with three different teams.”

Wayne continued: “He ain’t got six, but he done it with three different teams. And not on one of those muthafuckin’ teams did he play role two. That right there is what tipped him over the Jordan scale for me.”

    1. This is not even a argument at all. James is 1 , 2 or 3 I would have him 1. Kobe was amazing definitely close to a all time top 10 player but not top 5

      1. The only players in history with two or more postseasons of 500 pts., 100 reb., and 100 dimes is Bron, Bird, MJ…and Kobe. Only players in history to have career averages of 25 pts., 5 reb., 4.5 assists and 1.5 steals are West, Bron, MJ…and Kobe. Most assists at SG…Kobe. Only players to win a scoring title and make All-defense 1st team in the same season are MJ…and Kobe. Most All-defense selections overall is Duncan…then Kobe. Last 40 pt., 10 reb. playoff game in Lakers history before AD did it…was Kobe. With Team USA on the brink, They were saved by D-Wade…and Kobe, NOT Bron. Most points at 30 or younger, Bron…then Kobe. Oldest to score 60…Kobe. Most all-star selections…Kobe. Of any player in anybody’s top ten, who had the worst supporting cast to win a title? Kobe.

      2. If you are going to argue your point you gotta use facts. Kobe has 18 all star selection James has 19 and most likely will be 20 this year. James also has more all NBA all team selections, more points, rebounds and assists

      3. I’ve been arguing the same points for so long that they might be outdated after LeBron finishes year 1900, he just passed him in All star selections. But the fact remains you, and most people who rank Kobe, have zero idea about most of those stats. Don’t even get me started on his years with Shaq, people act like they weren’t averaging almost the same pts from ’01 to ’04. I can argue LeBron and Tim Duncan, I’ll concede MJ and Kareem…but those 4 are it, nobody else was better and it’s not even close IMO.

    2. At this point looking at what Lebron is still doing he is right there with Jim Brown and Wilt as greatest athlete ever.

    3. Well aside from the great points mentioned below about KB, I’ll address the main one, the one that should be at the top of the list, 5 championships with the same team and won 2 of them without shaq. …..new age players -MJ, KB, TD/LJ.

    4. Winning with 3 teams should never be considered an accolade in James’ case. He bailed on teams to find more superstars. An amazing player nonetheless, but that’s just bad logic.
