Gillie Da Kid has broken his silence on the passing of his son, who was shot and killed in Philadelphia last week.
On Saturday (July 29), the rapper-turned-podcaster took to Instagram to share a photo of YNG Cheese, who was only 25 years old at the time of his death, alongside a heartfelt message.

“I Miss u like $hit Dev My heart will forever have a Black hole in it but u know ur father gotta be strong to hold the family up,” he wrote. “Thanks 4 all the support from family, friends, and all of my followers y’all really helping me get thru these ruff times Me and my family appreciate and love y’all [blue heart emoji].”
He conclude: “Rest Well dev and watch over us u know I got chase [crying emoji] love u Cheese [five crying emojis].”

According to NBC10 Philadelphia, Cheese’s murder took place on the night of July 20 in Philadelphia’s Olney neighborhood.
Reports revealed that he was shot once in the back and taken to the hospital by police, where he was pronounced dead. A 28-year-old man and a 31-year-old man were also shot and taken to the hospital, with both men being placed in stable condition.

Gillie Da Kid’s Million Dollaz Worth of Game co-host Wallo took to Instagram following the tragedy to pay tribute to YNG Cheese.
“Lil Cuz usually when I talk to you, I got a lot to tell you,” he wrote next to a photo of the late rapper. “Tonight the pain in my heart & tears spoke to you. I love you beyond life Cheese. I got your father, Rest Well!”
On Monday (July 24), Wallo spoke on the matter once again, saying on Instagram: “I just want to thank all of y’all for the love. The love y’all sent our way, the condolences, we felt it, we heard it. Listen, I appreciate y’all.
“But I need y’all to know something very important: me and cuz’s dedication to adding value to our family, our community and the world — making people think, laugh, and cry — the dedication to that has became stronger.”

Wallo continued by explaining that even in the wake of such a tragedy, their mission and dedication to their community remain the same.
“We just want to let everybody know our commitment to everything we said we gon’ be and do when we was in good energy, when things didn’t go right and tragedy struck, we kept that dedication,” he added.
“We kept that promise to ourselves… It’s a tragic situation, but tomorrow’s gonna be better than yesterday.”
