Gift Of Gab To Write Foreward Of Paul Edwards’ “How To Rap 2: Advanced Flow & Delivery Techniques”

Following 2010’s publication of How To Rap, British author Paul Edwards has penned a sequel to his book. How To Rap 2: Advanced Flow & Delivery Techniques will publish in September on the Chicago Review Press. The book, which studies the formulas used to create the deliveries and rhyming patterns used by some of today and yesterday’s most-respected emcees.

Following Chuck D’s foreward in the 2010 book, Edwards enlisted Sacramento, California emcee Gift Of Gab from the veteran duo Blackalicious to write this volume’s opening. Gab notably made “A2G,” a concept song using illiteration and going through the alphabet chronologically. This 1999 song, which was also included on a Quannum Projects EP of the same name, and the Nia album, released the same year as Papoose’s “Alphabetical Slaughter,” which employed a similar concept.

Included in the book are in-depth interviews with Tech N9ne, Crooked I, The Lady Of Rage, Souls Of Mischief, Brother Ali, Esoteric, The Pharcyde, Devin The Dude and many more.
