The Game has invoked Kobe Bryant as Los Angeles’ devastating wildfires near their end after the city finally saw some rainfall.
In a touching Instagram post on Sunday (January 26), the Compton rapper appeared to suggest that the downpour was a heavenly gift from the late basketball legend, who, of course, spent his entire career playing for the Los Angeles Lakers.

“It rained in Los Angeles today on the 5th anniversary of Kobe’s, Gigi’s & all the beautiful souls that passed with them on this day 5 years ago & now all the fires are pretty much fully contained with a little help from Mother Nature,” he wrote.
The Game, who has been on hand helping the wildfire relief efforts, went on to pay tribute to how the city of L.A. has come together in a time of crisis.

“Still, I can’t forget the amount of care, dedication, work & love every one from near and far poured into what has been the longest 2 1/2 weeks of devastation in my city that I’ve ever witnessed in my adult life,” he continued.
“If you prayed, donated, posted, shared stories or just took time out of your day to spread love for us all here in the city during this time… I truly ‘THANK YOU’ from the bottom of my heart.”
He added: “As the smoke clears, the aftermath of what happened doesn’t & I want everyone effected to know I stand with you 100% in the next phase of rebuilding with the families & areas that lost everything.. especially ALTA DENA !!!!
“Myself, @attorneycrump, @steverifkind, @sharisrhodes & @wrapcitydetailing & @travforthestars amongst others have been on the ground with the people pulling together resources for future solutions to help the many who seen their lives uprooted this month.”
The “Hate It or Love It” hitmaker also paid special tribute to the city’s firefighters: “To all the fire fighters who came from out of state & the surrounding cities especially the @us_hotshots to help our own men & women fighters we will forever be indebted to you. Again, THANK YOU.”
The wildfires across Los Angeles have now been burning for 20 days, killing 28 people and forcing hundreds of thousands to evacuate their homes as the blazes have destroyed tens of thousands of properties.

Lil Kim has also jokingly received thanks from Los Angeles residents after she bizarrely wished for a monsoon to rain down on the city — comments she later stood by.
While rain would help put out the fires, L.A. is currently on a flood warning as the ground will struggle to soak up any significant rainfall due to the scorched earth.
