G Herbo has admitted that he does not know who J Dilla is.
Appearing on The Adam Friedland Show, the Chicago rapper played a game with the host in which he had to pick his favorite between two artists.
At what point, Friedland asks him to pick between J Dilla and Madlib.
Herbo replies: “Um, that was a white question. I don’t… Hey, don’t kill me nobody. Who are they?”
Friedland then joked: “Well, let me tell you about Hip Hop culture. Herb, let me explain to you… No, they’re like two incredible,” before Herbo interjected by saying: “What do they do, though?”
Friedland answered: “Those are the best producers ever.”
In the end, Herbo decided to pick Madlib even though he still did not appear to know who he was.
Taking to his Instagram Stories, the Chicago rapper posted a picture of himself in a hospital bed along with the caption: “Y’all be safe out here bro this new flu strand ain’t no joke.”
Herbo did not offer any other details regarding his condition or what symptoms he was dealing with that led to his hospitalization.
According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. has been dealing with its worst flu season in 15 years, with around 25,000 people believed to have died from the disease over the winter months, including over 100 children.
G Herbo has had a difficult time of late having previously revealed that his father passed away last year.
He made the difficult announcement during an appearance on Kai Cenat‘s livestream where he was accompanied by his 6-year-old son Yosohn.
“There’s always light at the end of the tunnel. You know me, personally, I’ve been through a lot. I always overcome adversity. Trial, tribulations — there’s always triumph at the end. You gotta get up, work hard to be better than you were yesterday,” he said.
“I just lost my pops two weeks ago, two-and-a-half weeks ago. I still find a reason to get up and smile, to get up and work, to provide for my family, to be there for my children.”
Yellow diamonds smell like pee-pee…
so he doesn’t know a producer that die nearly 20 years ago, and this is news.
He also doesn’t know the other greatest producer that currently is still alive and just lost everything in the LA fires this past winter.
And apparently you don’t either…
🙄 So, it’s cool to not know things if it happened 20 years ago? And you seriously thought you made a cogent point too.
These new generations have the attention span of goldfish. Tell you what…Log tf off, go outside, touch grass. And bring a gdamn book with you when you do.
One of the biggest problems with our genre is this idea that its history and pioneers are unimportant. You don’t see that in other genres and in a lot of ways it’s manufactured.
you ever heard of mozart bitch
Actually I have and took a classical music class in college focused mostly on his work. The movie Amadeus is a classic. Your turn to answer a question: how much is your house worth? Mines is about a mil ticket 😂
you completely missed the point you dumb fuck, mozart died over 200 years ago. a million dollar home isn’t really shit if you live in any major city you dumb fuck.
in this interview he recognizes that common and kanye were early chicago rap pioneers and they both worked with dilla. he doesn’t even know the basics of chicago rap let alone rap in general. dilla may have gone under the radar for the most part he worked with so many influential rap groups and is one of the best producers of all time, not doing your rap research, digging in the crate and knowing the pioneers is pathetic for a rap artist.
🙄I live in Northern Ireland and I know who J Dilla was. RIP
what a herb
