From East to West, It’s all Love

The East gathered at club T-NY (New York) last night to show some love to up and coming artists, but especially the West. Another Mex Creation and Regg Rocc teamed up with Smack Entertainment (of the DVD fame), hiphopdx.com, The Source Magazine and Hot 97 to present “Sucker Free,” a monthly Hip-Hop showcase.

Featuring performances by Saigon and DJ Quik and AMG (The Fixxers), last night was considered to East to West Coast edition as The Fixxers were the main attraction.

The showcase is only a few months into the game but the idea is to have up and coming acts perform in front of industry heads for a chance to gain exposure. In addition to the headlining acts, local rappers from the tri-state area who performed were Living Proof, Fire, John Extra Ca$h, Live, Head Crack, Lay’Em Down Records, The League and Big Trip.

“As far as new guys coming out, they just gotta stay true; stay true to Hip-Hop; stay true to what they feel,” said AMG in his advice to the up-and-comers. “It’s a feeling…we don’t put out records that we don’t feel, it’s not just what people like or what everybody like, it’s a feeling. I go against the grain all the time with records and I don’t even care about if somebody like it; If I like it, then I go with it and that’s the feeling.”

Representative of the promising New Jacks who are already making a name was Saigon. His performance was well-received however, there is still no set date as far as his album is concerned.
