French Montana is proud of Morocco’s run to the semi-finals in the 2022 World Cup and he’s decided to celebrate his heritage with a new song.

Despite the team’s cinderella story coming to a close on Wednesday (December 14) after Morocco’s 2-0 loss to France for a date in the finals where Lionel Messi and Argentina await, the rapper is holding his head high.

Montana — who was raised in Morocco’s largest city, Casablanca — commemorated Morocco’s World Cup achievements on the pitch with an anthem named after the country. He ad-libs the entire track in Arabic while paying tribute to Morocco.

“Let’s go Habibi,” he raps on the dance-leaning track.

The “Morocco” music video features highlights from the team’s World Cup run, which included an improbable victory over Portugal in the quarter-finals on Saturday (December 10).

To celebrate the landmark win over the weekend, French Montana gathered with thousands of Moroccans in the middle of NYC’s Time Square for a an epic party.

“LEGENDARY ON ANOTHER LEVELLLLLL HAMDULILLAH [flame emoji],” he captioned the post. “FIRST AFRICAN TEAM TO EVER MAKE THE SEMI FINALS !! [Moroccan flag emoji] Ronaldo u had your time g … it’s Morocco time lol”

French waved his country’s red flag and chanted along with the thousands filling Times Square. The “Unforgettable” rapper kept the party going throughout the night, even recruiting Bobby Shmurda to join the festivities by gifting him a Morocco soccer jersey.

The Coke Boys boss made sure to give a shout-out to Morocco even after the loss as it’s the furthest any Morocco soccer team had ever advanced in the World Cup as their sights change to 2026 where North America will play host.

“My head still gassed how far we came lol,” he wrote after the 2-0 defeat to France. “No Morrocan in the world should be sad today We shook the world up and we made history . Never been done before So proud of the whole Morrocan team And so proud of the whole country Dima Maghreb.”

Elsewhere, French Montana has been working to improve the Ugandan healthcare system, and his efforts haven’t gone unnoticed.

During the annual Pencils of Promise Gala at the Museum of the Moving Image in New York City last month, the Bronx rapper received the 2022 Innovator Award for his humanitarian efforts in the African country.

The Gala honored French for helping to raise more than $226 million for healthcare in Uganda, as well as supporting the Budondo Suubi “Hope” Health Center, the region’s primary place of healthcare for new and expectant mothers, as well as their newborns.
