Flavor Flav and Chuck D of Public Enemy have had their differences over the past half-dozen years, but according to Flav, it has never been that serious.

Flav appeared on TMZ Live on Friday (December 22) and said that despite lawsuits between group members and associates and the fact that the group hasn’t released an album since 2020, PE is still going strong.

“A lot of people been asking me, ‘Hey, when is Public Enemy gonna reunite?’ But my answer is this: we never broke up to reunite. We just took a long break,” he said.

In addition, Flavor said that despite him naming Chuck in a 2017 lawsuit and public comments made by both Chuck and Flav in its aftermath, there was never any real “beef” between them.

“[M]e and Chuck, we never really was beefing,” he explained. “There wasn’t no beef. Because I love my partner, and I know he loves me too. Sometimes you don’t see eye to eye on everything. But one thing about me and Chuck, we always manage to pull it back together to see eye to eye and to keep moving forward.”

Flavor Flav debuted a new song, “Every Where Man,” during a Public Enemy performance this past September. The song features Chuck D and will be officially released on January 10.

Flavor has been living up to his single’s title recently, popping up at all kinds of events. Most recently, Latto announced that the rap veteran would be hosting her 25th birthday party, scheduled for Friday (December 22).

The Atlanta rapper shared a social media promo earlier this month for the upcoming celebration, which she is calling “Hoes Up Pimps Down.” The video features a voiceover from the Public Enemy star, who explains that the role-reversal of the 1970s-themed party centers on the era’s pimp aesthetics, before revealing that he will be hosting the event.

“Everybody grab your mink coats and gather around ’cause on December 22, playas ball is takin’ over town. Hosted by your boy — me. Yours truly, Flavor Flav. Ha ha I hit the Lotto.”
