Fetty Wap has begged the judge in his federal trafficking case to only hit him with the minimum sentence — but if the feds have their way, the rapper will be getting a lot more.

TMZ obtained legal documents on Friday (May 19), which featured the “Trap Queen” rapper asking for only five years in federal prison. The requested sentence is connected to his October 2021 arrest, for which he ultimately pled guilty.

Fetty’s lawyer told the judge that their client “accepts full responsibility for his crimes, but his conduct here does not and should not define him.” The legal team buttressed their case by providing witness statements from family and friends that attested to Fetty Wap’s character.

But the federal prosecutor has requested that Fetty Wap spend 9 years (108 months) behind bars, claiming that he was part of a massive drug ring that flooded Long Island, NY, with cocaine. What’s more, prosecutor Breon Pearce said that Fetty “has used, and continues to use, his fame, sizeable platform and influence to glamorize the drug trade.”

Fetty Wap’s sentencing date is May 24.

On August 22, 2022, Fetty Wap pleaded guilty to federal drug charges in connection to his interstate drug trafficking case. The New Jersey native remains behind bars after having his $500,000 bond revoked in July.

The “679” rapper was in Long Island Federal Court where he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess and distribute 500 grams of cocaine, according to the New York Daily News.

The guilty plea comes with a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum of 40 years.

Prosecutors allegedly labeled Fetty Wap “a kilogram-level redistributor for the trafficking organization” when arresting him along with five others before his Rolling Loud NYC performance in October 2021 in Queens, New York.

During the investigation, the FBI obtained $1.5 million in cash, 16 kilograms of cocaine, two kilograms of heroin, fentanyl pills, pistols, handguns and a rifle.

“I agreed with other people to distribute cocaine,” Fetty told the judge. “Guilty.”

Fetty Wap’s attorney, Elizabeth Macedonio, made sure to clarify that his guilty plea does not mean he’s cooperating with authorities.

“He’s not cooperating. I want that to be very, very clear,” she said outside the courtroom.
