Fat Joe Labeled A Hypocrite For Criticizing Joe Rogan’s ‘N-Word’ Past

Fat Joe was born in the Bronx borough of New York City to parents of Puerto Rican and Cuban descent, but he’s not getting a pass for using the “n-word.” Last week, the Terror Squad founder blasted Spotify podcast host Joe Rogan for his previous use of the controversial word — but got dragged for the perceived hypocrisy.

Rogan has been under public scrutiny after someone made a video medley of the numerous times Rogan has used the “n-word” in the past. Although Rogan ultimately issued an apology, Fat Joe evidently wasn’t trying to hear it, calling him “a piece of shit” in a recent Instagram video.

Fat Joe then brought up the numerous artists taking their music off Spotify in protest of Rogan’s show. Neil Young, Joni Mitchell and India.Arie were among those who abandoned the streaming giant in light of Rogan’s alleged “misinformation” about COVID-19 vaccines.

“Shoutout to everyone that’s better than me and taking their music off of Spotify, I’m not,” Fat Joe continued. “Because all my people people know [I’ll] do charity, will open a business in the hood and give out jobs, will give computers to the school, but got to get to [my] bag. I ain’t crazy.

“I’m not taking my music off Spotify, but Spotify is made up of Black music whether its R&B, whether its rap, trap, reggaeton, all that fall in there. Because our music is on that platform, and they make their money from Black people, do you think it should be allowed for a guy to be talking racist shit on their platform?”

Many people on Twitter were quick to call out Fat Joe over an old VladTV interview in which he defended non-Black people who used the word.

“If they’ll like yo what’s up my n-gga oh shit you a racist. You know they ain’t really mean it racist … She’s saying what’s up my n-gga? You see what I’m saying? The craziest shit — I’m going to give you some breaking news —  the craziest shit is Reverend Al Sharpton made a whole campaign against the word ‘n-gga.’

“The first time I ever met Al Sharpton was with Don King and Don King said, “Reverend Al, do you know Fat Joe?’ And he said, ‘How I’m not going to know the realest n-gga in New York?'”

Fat Joe even raps about the “n-word” on the 2008 track “The Fugitive” off The Elephant In The Room album.

“When it comes to Latina MCs, there’s none bigga,” he spits. “Now who’s gonna tell me that I can’t say n-gga?/N-gga n-gga n-gga n-gga n-gga xxxxx hoe/’Cause some chicks is bitches, and some chicks is hoes/Some independent ladies yeah they make a lotta doe.”

Fat Joe’s own use of the word led to some bashing on Twitter. Check out a few of the reactions below.

    1. When a white dude is your fam he’s gotta pass to say it and coz he’s fam hell know it ain’t cool to refer to others like we do in our circle… at the end of the day. If you ain’t white you a n!gga, ask racist that

    2. White people are weird with this obsession to use this word. Black people are not going to be okay with it. Get over it.

      1. White people (you ARE white BTW) don’t give a fuck about this stupid word. It’s hilarious hypocrisy. That’s all. As a Latino, I hear other Latinos use it all the time. It’s corny as fuck when anyone uses it. It’s just stupid. You’re a weirdo racist.

        1. I’m black as night and i dont have an issue with latinos and mexicans sayin it, when a white man says it i got a problem

      1. Arabs and white people. No.
        Mexicans. No.
        Puerto Ricans and Cubans. Yes.
Because of black ancestry. Which alot of them do have.

    3. They (many highly-placed white people) are really just mad at Joe Rogan for highlighting the ineffectiveness and bogus nature of the vaccines and the vaccination push. Now, certain Black people have jumped on the bandwagon and are piling on using old news to display “outrage.”
      Pick-and-choosey at best.

    4. Latinos aren’t black and shouldn’t be saying it. End of discussion fuck atta here. You didn’t start hip hop or funk music either. You’re just the first non black participants. There are black people living in the Dominican, Puerto Rico etc. Those aren’t the Latinos we are talking about. Those are black people living in Latin America speaking the white Spanish colonizers tongue. No different than us speaking English in America. Black people aren’t English because we speak english in America. Know what I’m saying Comprende?
