Fat Joe has gone out of his way to praise Chris Brown and compare him to Michael Jackson.
The Bronx rapper took to Instagram Live over the weekend to give Breezy his flowers, claiming he’d be put on a high pedestal if it wasn’t for his domestice violence case with Rihanna.
“If Chris Brown never got into the controversy with Rihanna, we would be calling him Michael Jackson right now,” he said. “Not like Michael Jackson — Michael Jackson. He is the most talented singer, artist, performer, hit maker of our time.
“There’s nobody even close to Chris Brown, and it’s time we move past it. It’s been 20-something years that I know of — there’s no more incidents. We gon’ let this lifetime go by without saying the truth?
“What happens is, when the truth is an unpopular decision, everybody gets scared to say it. They get canceled — especially famous people. But you know, the streets — they know what it is. Streets always know, they tell you the truth.”
Fat Joe claimed the “streets” are still listening to R. Kelly despite being sentenced to 20 years in prison for child sexual abuse.
“The streets still bumping R. Kelly,” he said. “He’s in jail, he did terrible things.”
Fat Joe went on to say that Chris Brown’s catalog and the amount of hits he’s had needs more respect.
“So what I’m tryna say is that it’s a shame that we lying and we not giving it up to the king of R&B,” he said. “We be thinking he could battle Michael Jackson, that’s all I’m tryna say. I’m not lying. If you really look at his body of work and you look at all his hits, you see what he does.”
Fat Joe made clear that he doesn’t condone his actions towards Rihanna, but claimed he was a “little kid” at the time.
Joe previously had high praise for Chris Brown in April, crowning him the modern day 2Pac.
“Of course, the 2Pac of 2024 has to be Chris Brown,” he said at the time. “Chris Brown is considered an alien. If you playing basketball, he’ll bust your ass. If you sing against him, he sing better, he dance better. If he gotta rap, he raps.”
These rappers need to stop that dumb shit. He compares in no universe, plane, or anywhere else with Mike. Hell, Usher doesn’t even compare to him, and he had a much more similar career. CB doesn’t even have a recognizable crossover hit like Usher does with Yeah or You Got it Bad. I swear these dudes like to make this comparison to get off their shitty domestic violence takes. If not for…. Nah, it wouldn’t have mattered either way.
Kings of Abuse
stop it Joe… with or without the Rihanna incident, he is nowhere in the vicinity of MJ. he has some good songs and hits, sure. but there’s a LOT separating MJ from CB musically. Really the most CB has of MJ is the dancing he was known for earlier in his career, and the higher pitched singing voice. Dude started off on the right path, but then decided he wanted to be a wannabe gangster and C/D-list rapper instead of a B-list singer
They don’t call him Crack for nothing. SMDH
See this is a example of when your mouth starts moving before your brain processes the question. BS just spits out such as in this case. Carry on!!!
You can only compare Chris to Usher. Nobody today can touch anyone in the 80s or earlier
“But but but he punched rihanna!” LOL
Until Chris has a classic album he shouldn’t even be compared to Usher.
