Fat Beats Records, the imprint of the legendary New York-based record store chain has negotiated distribution with Koch Records. This comes on the heels of Koch’s alignment with Duck Down, another purist Hip Hop label.
Fat Beats is recognized for acclaimed projects with Lord Finesse, Edo G & Pete Rock and rising producer/emcee Black Milk. DJ Eclipse, who in addition to his Halftime Radio Show post and role in Non Phixion, is Fat Beats’ store manager in the New York location. Of his company’s move, Eclipse told HipHopDX, “When Koch first decided to get into Hip Hop they linked up with Fat Beats. Over the years both companies have grown and come back full circle to work together again. Whereas Fat Beats once lent a hand in showing Koch the Hip Hop scene, Koch can now reciprocate and help Fat Beats artists like Akrobatik, Black Milk and El Michels Affair get into more markets.“
At the top of the decade, the companies worked together on several projects, including a Fat Beats Volume 1 compilation in 2001 featuring Grand Puba, Freddie Foxxx and GZA.
