Faith Evans Hopes Notorious B.I.G.’s Death Investigation Is Reopened

The murder investigation into Notorious B.I.G.’s death has been at a standstill for quite a long time.

Singer Faith Evans, who was married to the late Brooklyn emcee, recently sat down with Huff Post Live and relayed that she wants more attention placed on the unsolved case.

“All we can do is hope that that happens,” she said when asked about Biggie. “But we’re just happy that we’re here to preserve his legacy and [make sure] his kids are happy and they’re living great lives.” She also claims she believes the Los Angeles Police Department knows who pulled the trigger but won’t let the public know who.

“We know he was murdered, but we believe that the LAPD knows who’s responsible,” she said. “That’s what we believe.”

Surprisingly, Faith Evans also concluded talking about Biggie by saying him being in the music business had little to do with his fate. Many claim the East Coast vs. West Coast beef at the time played a large roll in the 1997 shooting.

“The only way you can look at it is tragic. Tragic and senseless,” she said. “But I don’t think that situation was the result of being in the music business. It’s a little deeper than that. I think all the things that came with it definitely added to the hype of things. The whole media element, and people being able to say what they think and not be accurate.”

The Notorious B.I.G. was killed in Los Angeles in 1997. Over the years many leads and stories of his death have persisted but no suspects have officially been named.

    1. Cosign! I call BULLSHIT on both Biggie’s and Tupac’s investigations. How could 2 of the biggest murders in Hip Hop history go unsolved? Both on busy streets? Inside job

    2. I thought Biggys family wanted to sue a police officer, due to having significant evidence of the investigation and letting the suspect go free. That was some years back, and there has not been any concrete investigation since that time

      1. Biggie’s family did sue – they sued the LAPD and former officer David Mack and his college friend Amir Muhammad. However, according to the LA Times, they dropped Mack and Muhammad from the suit in 2005, and supposedly part of the deal was that Mack and Muhammad wouldn’t counter sue them for malicious prosecution. When you consider that the threshold to win a case in civil court is even lower than in criminal court, and the fact that this deal supposedly existed where they agreed not to sue Biggie’s estate, this shows that there likely wasn’t anything concrete to prove Mack and Muhammad had anything to do with Biggie’s murder. The Wallace estate’s lawsuit was ultimately tossed out or dropped in 2010. The LAPD and the FBI launched a task force in 2006, and according to the head of that task force, lead detective Greg Kading, they solved both murders.

    5. According to retired LAPD detective Greg Kading, Christopher Wallace (aka the Notorious B.I.G. aka Biggie Smalls) was shot and killed by Darnell Bolton (aka Wardell “Poochie” Fouse), a Mob Piru Blood and a member of Death Row Records security who was hired by Suge Knight to kill Biggie Smalls for $13,000. When asked whether Tupac and Biggie’s murders would ever be solved, Detective Kading said:
