As part of its Greatest of All Time series, Billboard asked Fabolous to name his Top 5 New York rappers.

He quickly lists The Notorious B.I.G., Jay Z and Nas.

“Those three are easy,” the Brooklyn, New York rapper says.

He includes Big Daddy Kane and Rakim to round out the list.

“All for me showed me different lyrical content in showing that can be successful,” Fabolous says.

    1. 1. Kane. 2. Nas. 3. Rakim. 4. Redman (Brick City is close enough). 5. Lloyd Bank$ (slight edge over the legend, LL).

      1. Yeah, as much as LL ripped the mic more often than not he was on some bitch shit. Bank$ over LL still.

    2. (1) Biggie, (2) Jay-Z, (3) Nas, (4) Big Daddy Kane, (5) Rakim

Almost there = Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Big Punisher, Guru, and AZ.

    3. WISDOM & KNOWLEDGE KRS1-
      VISION & LONGEVITY NAS-
      LYRICAL DEXTERITY CANIBUS-
      POETIC PRESENCE & CADENCE MOSDEF-
CONQUERING WORDS OF POWER & RESISTANCE IMMORTAL TECHNIQUE-

    4. Biggie is not the best rapper to me, I mean he was nice but he doesn’t even have enough material to me. Big L was nice as sh!t too, but again not nearly enough material. Both went before their time, I will at least say that. For me KRS 1 is def top 3 sh!t I would probably put X ahead of Biggie because of his body of work factored in with his skills. People are so quick to say Biggie but top 5 DEAD or ALIVE is saying QUITE ALOT and I think most peoples lists are in too short of a span….but that’s just me.

      1. X in front of big? Biggie was the biggest rapper in the game in the mid 90s. The most respected. Lyrically has influenced nearly everybody since. The most bitten rapper of all time.

      2. He also released 5 albums worth of material so I don’t know what your saying when you say he didn’t release enough material? Ready to die(1 album) and life after death(2 album) that’s 3 already. Junior mafia and puff daddy’s debut (1 album of work between them) so we have 4 albums worth now. All his features on other artists work from supacat to Mary j blige to 2pac and jay z. From Michael Jackson to Shaquille oneal. And on and on. Add his freestyles and bad boy mixtapes at the time that 5 albums worth of material.

    5. In order: 1. Biggie, 2. Rakim, 3. Krs one, 4. Nas, 5. Jay-Z 6. LL Cool J, 7. Big daddy Kane, 8. Kool G Rap, 9. Slick Rick, 10. Tragedy Khadafi. HONORABLE MENTION: The Gza, Masta Ace, Big Pun, Big L, The Gza, Prodigy, Kool Moe Dee, Jeru The Damaja, AZ, etc

    6. Canibus deserves to be in the conversation. He’s had career missteps, but when he’s on, no one can fùck with him on the Mic.

    7. I would include DMX and never include Gay Z if BIG wouldn’t have died he would have been just another rapper.

    8. Nas, Pharoahe Monch, Redman, De La Soul, Ice Cube, Are My Top 5ive. Songs that made that made that List Possible Nas- Watch Dem Niggaz, Pharoahe Monch 2nd Verse on Releasing Hypnotical Gases, Redman-Creepin, De La Soul-Supa Emcees, Ice Cube- Who’s The Mack…..

      1. Dope list, but Redman from Jersey and Cube from LA. I dont think the affiliations get them a pass. I’m gonna sub in Biggie and Ghostface and keep your list though…

    9. I Know Cube West Coast but e recorded that song In New York Naw but for Real I listed my Overall List. If I had to LL Cool J Rounds it Out for me in terms of New York Rappers…….
