While catching up with Montreality during a show in Canada recently, Hip-Hop duo EPMD spoke on a variety of topics including their dream collaborations as well as the new artists they cosign.
When asked who they’d like to work with in the future both rappers immediately mentioned Yonkers-based group The LOX.
“The LOX might be something crazy. We were supposed to make that happen, two last albums,” Erick Sermon revealed. “Didn’t happen but I wanna see how that goes in that session.”
And on a more serious note EPMD’s Parrish Smith took some time to speak on the death of Trayvon Martin and the need for stricter gun laws.
“It’s a very serious situation for one. And that it’s catching a close watch because it could be anybody. It could be us, one of our children,” said Smith. “So I think the outcome is that laws are definitely gonna have to be changed because we live in America and by law first of all you have to have the right paperwork to carry a firearm…The truth of the matter is in America no young 17-year-old should be shot by a 28-year-old.”
As far as the new artists they cosign the duo mentioned J. Cole, Slaughterhouse, and Kendrick Lamar.

What difference does age make? Most of the time it’s the reverse. A 17 yr old, sometimes younger, are the one’s walking around strapped. It’s the mindset that needs to be examined.

On a lighter note, why are EMPD talking about The Lox? Do they have a new album in the works? I can’t imagine if Drake called on line 1 and EMPD on line 2, Jada, Sheek and the other one, would give any thought to answering line 2.
