Eminem’s Single “Berzerk” Projected To Sell Upwards Of 350,000 In First Week

Perhaps the biggest news that came out of the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards was the fact that Eminem would be releasing a new album, and not just any album, but a follow-up to perhaps his most critically acclaimed release, Marshall Mathers LP. With the exciting news also came a new single from the project.

“Berzerk” hit the Internet just under a week ago and the song title is exactly how the charts are expecting Em’s single to fare in sales. Billboard is reporting that the Detroit native’s latest song installment may sell upwards of 350,000 to 375,000 downloads by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, Sept. 1. Those numbers almost guarantee a high landing on the music mag’s Hot 100 chart as well as the Digital Songs chart, both set for release this week.

“Berzerk’s” sales are very comparative to Em’s last first single for an album. 2010’s “Not Afraid” hit No. 1 on the charts, selling 379,000 downloads according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Producer Just Blaze recently talked about Eminem’s approach to making music, remarking that he is more “scientific” when it comes to putting a track together.

“Em is there when you’re making the beat sometimes,” he revealed. “He’s there when you’re mixing. He’s there mixing and tweaking his own vocals. He hears, he has like dog hearing. So, he’ll be like ‘Turn this up a half a dB. Turn the bass up like a quarter dB at this frequency.’ He’s very much of a scientist with it.”

Also in related Eminem news, Kendrick Lamar recently revealed that he has never worked in studio with Em but said if he gets that call he’s “definitely running.”

Marshall Mathers LP 2 album is due out on Nov. 5. Check out all info regarding Eminem’s first single projections over at Billboard.com.

      1. you know people reveal numbers? You did knew sometimes people manipulate numbers??

I’m nor saying in Eminem chase, but people using Jay-Z’s line is so ingnorant and vorny. Ask Def Jam about manipulating sale numbers…

      1. ^ 23 year old white nerds, and 13 year old white DX stans… see the comments on the audio page, its sickening.

kendrick verse on control gets like 700, EM 1500 in 3 days…

        lol

      2. Kendrick has only had one (major label) album & he still managed to get hype. Eminem’s single is for his new album which is based off MMLP, the best selling hip-hop album. That album caused so much shit, people want to see if he can do it again. Smh.

    1. They just building up eminems mediocre single to boost kendricks career it sounds like. The lengends have really held back on their tallents or resorted to the underground cuz they know hip hop is really dead. I mean look at snoop lion, dr dre.

    2. I personally hope he O.D.’S BEFORE THE ALBUM COMES OUT, THAN MAYBE THEY WONT PUT IT OUT IN FEAR OF TAINTING HIS LEGACEY ANY FURTHER THAN WHAT IT IS

    3. Payola. Period. No way. Can’t believe it. That song is terrible. Just terrible. Shady/Aftermath probably bought all of those dloads. They got the bread.

      1. vanilla ice sold 10 million records…so did big daddy kane…numbers don’t lie because most people are stupid and will jump on any bandwagon especially an eminem one….get off your high horse

    4. the great white hope. this single didn’t even get any buzz so how come its doing this numbers. because white people who don’t listen to rap go to stores to buy it.

      1. ^^^^^ No you’re not black and he’s absolutely right. I can’t count the number of times I’ve heard “I don’t like rap, but I listen to Eminem” from white people. It’s sad they only support people who look like them.

      2. ^ because EM came in with dr dre… it’s like the hiphop fable, black people liked EM for one album..
Aint no black people buying that single bro, and u know it.

      3. Like I said earlier, I’m black and I bought it, from the motherland precisely west Africa living in the Indianapolis

      4. Has it dawned on you that millions of people are on the internet everyday listening to music? Skin color has no baring. Take that grudge off your shoulder and stick up your ass.

      5. If its because he is white, why aren’t all white rappers putting on the same numbers as Eminem? Thats because Eminem has skills and you just jealous a white dude runs the only thing black people are good at.

    5. Why must it be about race, people just like is music, he’s got a international fan base, Europe,Asia,Africa,America , if it was about color, I bet mgk, yelawolf would be doing numbers also

      1. Seriously. If being a white rapper is a ticket to making the most money why aren’t the rest of the white rappers a huge as eminem? because they don’t have his skill set, and have never said what he has said on albums..

    6. Music is so wack now in days. Every now and then I will hear a good song on the radio. Powertrip, swimming pools, and Adorn to name a few but music really sounds very stale and uninspired from all genres. Actually it’s been sounding that way for years now. I stopped having huge expectations for Eminem songs since Relapse came out. Before I listened to Berzerk I knew the song wouldn’t be much, but even I was surprised at how awful it was. I don’t get it but people on this site are praising less then average songs as if they were classics. A few hours ago I was listening to Kool and the Gang’s Summer Madness and told my family music like this is long gone. I don’t know if it’s fanatic bias or just plain delusion, but that new Eminem song is not good and you all know it.

      1. That’s your opinion. You have the right to feel that way and I understand it because I was born in 1981 so I been through all phases of music since that time. You have to understand that you can’t capture the feeling that’s already passed. Kool & The Gang was in the 80’s. It’s 2013 so it’s just a new generation of artisst. I have not heard the Eminem song yet but don’t take these comments as if everybody likes the song. It’s impossible for everybody to like the same song. If someone like it, then they like the song. Most people that like the song are true Em fans. This thread has 23 comments so that’s only 23 people out of let’s say a million eminem fans. Hiphopdx don’t dictate what song is good and is not. My advice would be just to listen to old music. Like my parents still bump oldies like it;s new. That time may be there for you. Sooner or later I’m not going to want to hear nothing but old shit.

      2. I feel what “da1” is saying. I barely started getting into motown music cuz of some of the samples in music. It just seems the new eminem song is really bad, and I’m getting into listening to his old stuff because it just sounds better.

      3. Thanks for your feedback from both Jermaine and Anonymous. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who feels this way. But yeah it seems thats probably what I will have to do from now on. And thats listen to older music. There is a great selection of it and it never gets stale. But I just can’t take this garabge anymore.

    7. Everytime I talk to girls I make the mistake of telling them Eminem is my favorite overall rapper they fucking hate him.

    8. Berzerk is the best single you ever heard. You will like it, and we will post more comments so you don’t feel alone.

    9. They released this weak single to make kendrick look like he’s the better rapper. If the record label had there money in eminem instead of kendrick this single would be 10x’s better.

    10. With the smarts eminem has he can come with a way stronger single than this. You right interscope must be setting this up for the little nugget.

    11. To those saying Eminem sells because he is white, than why is Eminem the only white rapper putting on those numbers? There are many other white rappers…I will tell you why, it’s because he has skills and you people are just mad a white dude is running the rap game. You’re jealous a white man is better at the only thing black people are good at.

      1. “You’re jealous a white man is better at the only thing black people are good at…” We are no more jealous than you guys are at a black guy(President Barack Obama) being the most powerful main in the world..stfu u rascist cunt skills have nothing to with skin complexion

      2. Obama might be the most powerful person in the USA, not in the world dumbass.

And “Anonymus”, like i said, why did other white rappers not sell like Eminem? Thats because even if EM was black he would sell. More people relate to his kind of struggles and his songs can be interpreted in many ways. Not like rappers who talk about gangster shit and money and living in a guetto.

      3. @Poopoo Obama could start WW3 at any minute just by attacking Syria. He is more powerful than any other world leader. Eminem is talented and has skill, but how many people can relate to someone talking about killing their wife & raping their mother? Seriously, he SOLD so much because of CONTROVERSY & suburban parents didn’t like ‘white trash’ being popular. If Eminem was black he wouldn’t have sold as much as he did, its a thing called WHITE PRIVILEGE, Macklemore admitted to it, Eminem did too just listen to WHITE AMERICA.

      4. “If Eminem was black he wouldn’t have sold as much as he did”

Then how come other white rappers aren’t selling as much as Eminem? Explain that.

    12. And also Eminem raps about stuff that touches a larger group of people. Most rappers rap strictly about the guetto and gangs or money while Eminem raps about a whole range of things which the average person canm actually relate to.

      1. Sure you’re right, the average fan can all relate to wanting to kill their mom, suicide, and childhood problems before they became rich and got unwanted fame. That’s how silly you sound.

Funny how Nas just put out album about relationships with women, having a daughter, moving on, with a 90s song on the album and you geeks didn’t defend it.

And y’all still want us to believe it ain’t about skin color, but skill set.

      2. You’re an idiot, he has a bunch of other songs which are on other topics. Emninem just has more talent and knows how to make a good album. Nas music doesn’t sell because it doesn’t appeal to the ears of most.

    13. Eminem released this crappy single on purpose so people can leave hate comments and he can get talked about. He probably did it so his label mate kendrick won’t be alone for the hit songs he can’t make.

      1. Yall are soo fucken retarded! Em took us back to 80’s hiphop with this single! He brought his “Beastie Boy” flow with this song. He isnt tryna get to the new generation. He’s trying to get back to old school rap. “Lets take it back to straight hiphop AND START IT FROM SCRATCH” -Eminem, Bezerk. And plus in the video, he plays A TAPE, IN A BOOMBOX, WITH AIRMAX 90’S ON. you fags who think this song aint strong ARENT REAL HIPHOP FANS.

      2. Hey John why dont you come back to this dry anal sex i know you love, we can fuck to this shitty song you keep playing………..p.s keep your 90’s airmax on yea?

      3. OMG!!!! Eminem had a tape, with a boombox and sneakers on! He’s awesome! You’re not a real hiphop fan if you don’t hop on the dick immediately like me! lol, stfu john doe.

    14. Song is strait shit…………..flows like 80’s beastie’s for 30 secs then loses the track, too many hyped up fuck boys proclaiming this is the future already.

Just blaze is slipping up with this mess

      1. i know alot of black people think eminems a killer in the booth and BOUGHT his albuum..cuz the black ppl i fuck w can actually afford shit.

    15. Huge Eminem fan, loyal too. But this song is donkey poop. It’s fucked up Em lost that intriguing lyrical wittiness he had with his first three albums. They are all classics if you ask me. After that he started being less interesting. Maybe cause he said all he had to say. Now he just shouts all the time, doubles all his vocals and I find it hard to even understand what he’s saying. Very few punchlines as well. You can’t compare any of his last say 75 songs to a track like Kill You, Guilty Conciounce, Stan, Mockinbird, Clean Out My Closet, Hollywood. I mean damn, those track are amazing and timeless. I cant even remember what he said in Not Afraid.

    16. There isn’t much good music these days so this fits right into what pop culture likes and it’s Eminem so it selling well should be no surprise.

    17. when sslp came out every body thought it was wack as fuck but then sslp came out sound nothing like single you fans that say your eminem fans you remind me of the kids i use go school with your cool with nerds until rest kids see you with nerd then your like fuck him i dont like that bitch you fans are fake as fuck im just glad eminem back

    18. i like eminem too but calling this mmlp 2 is big mistake like i said i like eminem but i think he living off his past

    19. I remember when Z100 in NYC wouldn’t play rap music until Em came out..bottom line this single and most of his music is fucking wack..i dont hear any one in any hood bumping his shit down the block..but when i go through Howard beach and Bensonhurst ,they bumping that shit like its the new Biggie….the fix is in people watch the next awards show and see how many nominations he gets and will win for this bullshit..look at the vma’s best rap album goes to MACKLEMORE..GTFOH..then you get these bullshit sites cosigning these wack ass albums just to keep alive…

      1. lol you fucken gay cunt, do not EVER put eminem and macklemoorefaggot in the same story. and fyi, cunts bump eminem in my hood, an your hood aint no harder then mine son so sit the fuck down

      2. i agree..em aint bumping in no real hood…theses fuck boys kill me….whos the best mc , biggie, jay-z and nas..period…

      3. em is a nice white rapper, mediocre to damn near ever black rapper…don’t let these craackers take rap from us, they already took rock and roll and changed r&b to pop..the fix is in people …

      4. “I remember when Z100 in NYC wouldn’t play rap music until Em came out.”

        ^ yo

Hot97 & WBLS were around too. You remember them playing “The Real Slim Shady”, “I Am”, & “Stan”, “Lose Yourself” into the ground? I do.

If you gonna give them that work, keep it 100. No, if you in Bed Stuy or any of the spots like Harlem, Park Hill, or East Tremont, and if it’s not on radio, you would barely ever hear an Eminem song. Malls, stores, ballparks, restaurants, clubs included. Z100 is nationally syndicated, that’s what them corns up there hear and swear what’s hot. I know you read the “cool story bro”, “cunt”, lingo.

Like for instance, the commenter imho says he from NY, but never has an NYC experience to speak on, just his opinion. We know NY could mean the border by Vermont, not NYC. He ain’t speaking on the radio station experience, or even mentioning underground stations like WLIB.

You can tell who’s who if you read closely.

      5. SMH at all of these dumb niggas bringing up the hood, who don’t even buy music, but download it instead. The hood listens to trash like Gucci Mane and French Montana.

      1. Wow. you must have never heard the Beastie Boys or any 80’s hip hop and you probably didn’t even listen to the lyrics. Dumb ass.

    20. started from the bottom double platinum. Eminem bezerk 350k its official drake took over the crown drake will outsell eminem next album and will be the official king of rap. DRAKE RUNS RAP # FACT

    21. the chronic-the chronic 2001 mmlp-mmlp2……..shady aint stupid,he knows he’s sittin on a classic, dont mind the singles people. im of to listen to some underground ish peace!

    22. my neighbor’s step-mother makes $69 hourly on the laptop. She has been out of work for 6 months but last month her pay was $19099 just working on the laptop for a few hours. this article… http://www.Cafe44.com

Caressing Pac’s back? Wtf? Are you didn’t confuse that with the picture of Birdman and Lil Wayne giving each other mouth-to-mouth resuscitation?

    23. idk why half this blog always hates. you stated your opinion on other eminem articles why keep doing it? hate? this songs fire nice old classic rap sound. good lyrics to make. different eminem but good. i like this single better than most singles he releases esp not afraid

that said MMLP2 needs to live up to its name bec u cant just have that as ur title n not expect it to be compared to 1 of his 2 classics.

      1. The song is not fire. I’ve listened multiple times, it’s weak. I’d rather radio spin his BET freestyle than this.

Maybe it’s not hate and people are giving a more honest opinion than you ever did. Many of your opinions lack credibility so don’t think that just because you include honest with it they’re gonna fly.

And kudos to Eminem, he’s paying homage to the white rappers who came before him, which is more than his rabid fanbase ever did. So with that said, many of you

      2. Y’all read imho’s comment?

Read this one, from the Wayne thread:

        “imho:

it is over for this guy in the rap world..who still listens to him? hes a rap junkie and cant put together a decent verse to save his life no more.

its over for him and if they didnt have drake the whole crew would be like mmg–fading to black”

^ lol, didn’t he just hate on Wayne?

Yes, he is a white boy.

BTW, you can’t claim to have an honest opinion and state who listens to a specific rapper, especially when leaving a comment on an article that has download and stream numbers activity to show you people are listening.

        As of this posting:

        almost 3.9m views
        almost 300k streams
        almost 550k downloads

and I don’t even like Wayne’s music like that but I wanna show how hypocritical this clown is because his idol Eminem was a junkie for a long time. More lurking, less commenting, you young and way too weak for comment debates & ether wars.

      3. @check this tho— really went to other pages to check my comments lmao. and im talking about the people who go to every EM blog just to hate on his shit. i dotn go to every wayne post bec i know hes wack but i actually took a listen 2 a few songs n they all sucked.

      1. oh you mean marshall mathers LP which was since released in 2000 …thats whats really behind that website when you do the survey, quite the bullshit people :)!

      1. so Bad is one of eminems best songs since eminem show.. One of the only oens actuallly produced by Dre and him and the doc make great songs together.. such a dope beat and eminem has his marshall mathers eminem show flow.. something i feel he lost after the death of proof who was half of eminems creative side.. which is why he now resorts to yelling and technical rap.. proof had the harmony and melody shit we used to hear.. now without that influence is is flawlessly technical instead of really in tune with the beat like he used to be.. so bad is his attempt at re attaining that style and it is great. so fuck off.

    24. Eminem doesn’t deserve this. Makes you kind of wish he was Black, there wouldn’t be so much scrutiny and chatter, it would just be about the music.

The reality in that statement is it’s his cult following fan base that consists of many white bigots that have created this. If you don’t understand this dynamic, that people who hate Blacks, support a white rapper, who has built his career and friendships around associations with Blacks, but will waste no time letting Blacks know just how successful their favorite white rapper is, then you will never, ever understand the Eminem conversation.

Whomever said that Nate Dogg hook/Eminem song is wack has never been in a rocking club in the US when that song comes on, but I know about the internet. Some of you are too young to actually know racists are not supposed to like their own kind who mesh with the other side.

    25. Only for students and supporters of hiphop…. The dick riding and fanatic statements or arguments, save em…. Appreciated EM for his raw honesty and skill through the years, but let’s be rational, Em is only at best with Gore rap, or like all of us when adversity is staring at him face to face. MM LP, Eminem Show, Features on Renegade or anyone’s track, there was a void in his life, a feeling of needing to prove his place in rap music. Last few albums, there’s no KIM, no mommy lawsuits, and he pretty much is “SOBER” now… What does that spell? TIME IS UP!!!! Going back to the beginnings of hip hop or resorting back to retro sound is exactly what one does when creativity leaves… Why Wayne still hangs on to Dedication series or Carter series? The same… Talent is somewhat there, the hunger tho… GONE!!!!!!!!

    26. HANG IT UP EMINEM, LIL’ WAYNE, JAY-Z…. TOO PREDICTABLE… THE LAST TWO IT ALL REVOLVES BACK TO MONEY AND HOW THEY SPEND IT…. THE FIRST GUY IS JUST YELLING AND SPAZZIN BECAUSE THAT’S WHO WE GREW TO ADMIRE…A CRAZY WHITE BOY WITH BARS…..

    27. All of the niggas who say Eminem sold because he’s white are stupid. So why aren’t other white rappers selling as much as him if that’s the case?

    28. Make that money Em! respect his skill and hustle, but that Bezerk song is trash! 350,000+? damn, some ppl will buy and show others what they listen to, just to be down… smh..

      1. Just not your preferred style of Hip Hop obviously, the track is actually very good, problem is too many people compare it to obvious styles of hip hop forgetting that it comes all in sorts of forms, it’s nothing like the old school shady in 1999, but still great, can definately feel the Beastie Boys in it.

    29. damn, white america about to give the hating hip hop world a big middlefinger. don’t care how awful the song is, we gonna support the big white hope!!!!!!!

    30. Yeah and black people don’t buy black rappers music. Why does it always come down to skin color?
Ignorance and jealousy you like the music you buy it, you dislike the music you don’t buy it. Simple
