Eminem Welcomes New Shady Records Signee GRIP

East Atlanta-bred rapper GRIP is officially the latest Shady Records signee.

To celebrate, he shared a Twitter photo of himself posted up at the studio with Eminem and added a handshake emoji indicating they’ve sealed the deal. Slim Shady promptly retweeted the photo on Thursday (July 1), clearly excited about their new venture.

GRIP plans on dropping his first track of 2021, “Gutter,” on Friday (July 2) in conjunction with the announcement of his Shady Records partnership. It’ll mark the inaugural release under his deal with the label.

Shady Records’ roster currently consists of artists such as Boogie, Bad Meets Evil, Conway The Machine and (of course) Eminem, according to its website. Conway’s fellow Griselda member Westside Gunn was previously signed to the label but announced he’d left during an episode of The Joe Budden Podcast last November.

“Um, I’m off Shady,” he told Budden. “I’m off Shady. I’m actually a free agent. It feels great. Who Made The Sunshine was it. I already spoke to Paul [Rosenberg]. Everything’s good. Like, everything’s signed, sealed and delivered I have my paperwork, like I’m off Shady.

Westside Gunn Makes His Feelings Clear About Eminem's Tweet Promoting The Alchemist's Album

“I’m one of those type of dudes I’m not no public talkin’ n-gga. That’s just how I move. It’s like sayin’ me and Benny or me and Conway or Conway and Benny or whoever, we might have a disagreement, but the world will never know. We still gonna be brothers and cousins. It’s the same way even with business, because at the end of the day, this a big world. Even if somebody else is a sucka, I’m never gonna play that sucka role.”

GRIP dropped his breakout project Porch in 2017 and followed up with Snubnose in 2019. Until the new video drops, check out the “Bregma Freestyle” below.

    1. Em will grab a couple records with GRIP and us him, the we’ll never hear from him again

    2. Grip is a good pick up, dude has potential. The song he played on IG live tonight with royce, Placebo Effect, sounded right. Gutter is pretty meh. I’ll keep an eye out for his debut, hes track with JID and Mason a while back was good.

    3. Time time takes money off cousins sleeping next to cousins making her very sick hers body hurts all Tim’s uses I am suffering big time if k was pregnant I would lost it but I a mum and I have never seen any off my kids ever but I also no that I am a billion rich because someone has stolen my real birth certificate my xlottio card plus I am the cute little face of Cindy brady

      1. LOL. I thought bots were supposed to have a sketchy website link at the end of the rambling nonsense?

    4. Shady coming through to ruin another perfectly adequate first single by name dropping Mariah and talking about his nuts circa 2002. Probably a rhyme with ass somewhere in there. In the meantime, no one will ever be able to look at GRIP with a straight face again after hearing Eminem rhyme glass with ass pass.

    5. “The year is 2028 and we gotta move some stuff around for Em’s next album, then an extended play of said album with one extra track, then get this Detox album figured out finally, so we are shelving Grip’s debut album until summer of 2029.”

    6. never heard of this guy until today because I don’t follow rap like that – good to see a black man with a brain in his head getting support nationally for a change.

dude does not sound like he’s trying to change the whole world by dinner time just kicking some loose flows and fly punch lines. Hope the best for him. Good on em for looking out

      1. Griselda – successful af … 50 – arguably the most successful ever … yelawolf – successful af … Royce – successful af … even joe – successful af … boogie – successful…. Obie when he was there – successful af … I mean who went there then went to the grave? Besides the artists who don’t have work ethic

        1. Griselda had a following before Shady, 50 you right, Yella had 1 great album on Shady, Royce isn’t signed at Shady as a solo, Boogie one album in they let Obie down you forgetting Bobbt Creek and Stat Quo he cut D12 loose

          1. Ca$his, Trick Trick etc thet all are nowhere now.. just like Stat and Bobby too, just to name a few

      2. You ain’t never lie. They’re under Interscope so you know how they get down. Taking a page off Aftermath records. Def Jam does ish like this too. In a couple of months, dude will be crying to get off Shady records. Calling it.

      3. Yo the gave yard right out side the gutter….do yo thing young man….ps yo machine gun ..what about my movies……..

    7. One mistake I notice is that Gutter is not Grips first drop this year, might wanna fix that. He is a dope rapper and I’m glad he made it out.
