Eminem Says People Perceive Him & Rihanna As Crazy

Eminem recently discussed his “The Monster” collaboration with Rihanna.

“The perception of the record, what it’s saying, I thought it would be a good idea to have her on it because I think people look at us like we’re both a little nuts,” Eminem said during an interview with SiriusXM radio station Shade 45. “That’s one of the things that I was telling her in making the record: I think that people look at us a little crazy.”

Eminem also said that he knew Rihanna was a good fit for the song as soon as he heard it.

“As soon as I got the beat I just heard her on it,” Eminem said. “I wanted to make sure that I had it finished first to be able to present to her, but once I had the rhymes done, I sent it to her…I had to send it to her because schedules were conflicting and sh– like that. Plus, the record it was kinda pulled together at the last minute. I sent it to her, she laid the hook, sent it back. She smashed it like she does always. It’s pretty incredible.”

Rihanna is featured on the hook for the song, which may have a video for it soon.

“I’m friends with the monster that’s under my bed,” Rihanna sings. “Get along with the voices inside of my head/ You trying to save me, stop holding your breath…You think I’m crazy.”

Eminem and Rihanna have collaborated on several selections, including “Love the Way You Lie,” “Love the Way You Lie 2” and “Numb.”

The song’s co-writer, Jon Bellion spoke with HipHopDX in an interview published yesterday (November 5). During the interview, Bellion talked about Eminem’s interpretation of his chorus.

“I wrote the lyric, ‘I’m friends with the Monsters that’s under my bed’ mainly because sometimes you can’t necessarily get rid of your demons,” Bellion said. “You can’t necessarily, completely just not be fearful or not have an addiction or a problem so you kind of have to live with it and learn to like, kind of live with monsters. He’s not going to go away. The monster is still there but he’s got to learn to live with it and deal with it and kind of co-exist with your demons ’cause demons will never just be gone. You’ll never just be happy your entire life. So I think he really hit the nail on the head ’cause he really addressed everything. He addressed the drug problem, he addressed the issues with fame. I think those were his monsters that you can’t really get rid of. I think he’ll always be relatively addicted. I think he’ll always be relatively annoyed by the fame and all that stuff. But it’s something he’s going to have cope with. I think he literally hit the nail on the head with exactly what I meant.”

      1. Actually almost every rapper except for dr dre writes their own lyrics.

But yeah for pop singers, britney spears hardly writes and boy bands like one direction have songs given to them writen by middle aged perverts.

      2. Chris Etrata, Id rather say probably most mainstream rappers signed to major labels got ghostwriters, its not just pop-music disease

    2. no whats crazy is hhdx having 7/8 songs all eminem, and over half the topics…all eminem..im a fan of him, but come on niggas

    5. he must be crazy. bec noone in the world who has 2 ears and a functioning brain would think half of his album is listenable with that shit production..worst of his career. even tho the feel of it is his 4th best.

got the skills. not the ear though.

    6. I swear im not another one of those “shake that ass girl” or “swag” rappers.. I hate to be the dude that comments shit like “Im a upcoming rapper and it would mean the world if you checked out my song” .. but fuck it.. if any of you guys are bored and got a minute of your time to listen to a song of mine, id appreciate it.. youtube.com/watch?v=b3TYBdDrysY

      1. I can’t watch it because it’s marked as private.

But if what FACT said has anything to do with your video, then here’s my advice: stay outta the rap game, chuck, we don’t need any more of your kind. Em is enough.

    8. No one ever thought Eminem was crazy. Stop bringing Rihanna into your psycho world. A wierdo and a bad girl is two different things.

    9. 10. lmao @ the fact Slaughterhouse had a song called “Monsters in my head” on Crooked I’s Psalm mixtape. which IS THE SAME EXACT FUCKING CONCEPT. smh wat a re-hash

    11. The Monster was one of the worst songs off of MMLP2. Was just wack, plain and simple. As for Em and Rihanna being nuts, I just don’t see it.
