Eminem executive produced the soundtrack for Southpaw, which arrives in theaters today, 13 years after Eminem starred as the main character in 8 Mile, which was loosely based on his pre-fame life as an aspiring rapper in Detroit.

Eminem says that “Lose Yourself,” which is one of the Shady Records rapper’s best-selling singles, also had a different objective than “Phenomenal.

“Lose Yourself was more of a theme for the film,” Eminem says.
