Eminem in his heyday inspired many kids who listened to his music, and it’s now been revealed that his star power even helped cure a disorder Ed Sheeran once had.
The “Shape of You” singer stopped by The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday (May 10), where he revealed that his uncle had given him a copy of The Marshall Mathers LP when he was a child. Sheeran, who took to the album almost instantly, then revealed that rapping along to the lyrics helped him with his stuttering problem.

“[My uncle] just said to my dad, ‘This guy is the next Bob Dylan. You gotta let him listen,’” he told the veteran radio host “And by learning that record – and rapping it back to back to back to back – it cured my stutter.”
He continued: “I think it’s different with Eminem because he is quite reclusive, doesn’t see or meet that many people. I’ve known him now [for] six years and we’ve done three songs together, I’ve played with him twice onstage. He’s another person I really relate to, as he lives in his hometown still and has his eco-system around him.”
Stuttering is a disorder that is common among young children, especially if they are having difficulty learning to speak. “People who stutter know what they want to say, but have difficulty saying it,” reported The Mayo Clinic.
“For example, they may repeat or prolong a word, a syllable, or a consonant or vowel sound. Or they may pause during speech because they’ve reached a problematic word or sound.”
Ed Sheeran isn’t the only musician who has huge respect for Slim Shady.

Fab didn’t hesitate to name the Detroit native and noted his skill and expertise when it comes to lyricism. “In Hip Hop, I think I want to get with Eminem,” he said. “He’s real Hip Hop.”
