Vh1 Hip Hop Honors has already paid tribute to some of Hip Hop’s biggest influences such as artists like LL Cool J and Snoop Dogg, and even movies like Boyz N’ The Hood. In light of their sixth annual show, they’ve decided to honor the label that developed some of today’s biggest stars (Jay-Z, Ludacris and Young Jeezy).
On Tuesday October 13 at 9pm, Vh1 Hip Hop Honors will pay tribute to Def Jam Records. The label was originally founded by Russell Simmons and Rick Rubin in 1984 with its longest serving artist being LL Cool J, who released the label’s first official single and last year dropped his Exit 13 album.
Eminem, Fabolous, DMX, Ludacris, Trey Songz, and Young Jeezy are set to perform, just to name a few, along with seasoned vets like Warren G, Onyx, Method Man, and Public Enemy.
The show will be hosted by Tracy Morgan and is set to air from New York City, Hip Hop’s home state, at the Brooklyn Academy of Music Howard Gilman Opera House.
