Eminem’s Alter Ego Gets Zipped Up In Body Bag On ‘The Death Of Slim Shady’ Album Cover

Eminem‘s twelfth studio album is set to go live this weekend, and he has now unveiled the package’s artwork.

On Tuesday (July 9), the Detroit MC shared the cover image for The Death of Slim Shady (Coupe De Grâce) just days prior to its release.

Per the LP’s title, said visual features the rap veteran with bleach-blonde hair and a startled expression on his face as he is almost fully zipped up inside a body bag while still alive.

This look alludes to his controversial Slim Shady character, which he now seems ready to retire.

The Death of Slim Shady (Coupe De Grâce) is scheduled to be released on Friday (July 12).

Earlier this year, Eminem kickstarted its rollout by releasing an obituary for the aforementioned alter ego that helped kickstart his career in the 1990s. Published in the Detroit Free Press back in mid-May, the piece was was centered on the forthcoming LP.

Accompanied by a picture of the 8 Mile star wearing a Jason Voorhees-style hockey mask reminiscent of his younger days, the article stated that “Fans ‘Will Never Forget’ [The] Controversial Rapper” in the subheading.

The body read: “A product of Detroit who began his career there as a rogue splinter in the flourishing underground rap scene of the mid to late 1990s, Shady first became a household name in 1999 with the debut of his playfully deranged single ‘My Name Is,’ which — along with its uniquely eye catching video — exposed the young artist and his lyrics to a wider audience.

“Ultimately, the very things that seemed to be the tools he used became calling cards that defined an existence that could only come to a sudden and horrific end. His complex and tortured existence has come to a close, and the legacy he leaves behind is no closer to resolution than the manner in which this character departed this world. May he truly find the peace in an afterlife that he could not find on Earth.”

So far, the D12 leader has released two singles to stir up anticipation for the upcoming project: “Tobey” (featuring Big Sean and BabyTron) and “Houdini.”

    1. I never really got into the whole slim shady/marshall mathers thing. From day one I always just saw him as Eminem. Its not like he changed his voice or his look for different songs. He always dyed his hair blonde. He makes it seem like it was Shock G killing Humpty Hump.

      1. I never really got into your name. It’s not like you’re real and all you do is type, not talk. And if you are an OG, get off the internet! #BibbidiBobbidiBooFoo

    2. Even if you are a fan of Eminem or not you have to admit the marketing and strategy on this album release is top notch Maybe others should try to add some creativity in there camps because this is Hip Hop. Carry on!!!
