Detroit’s Nolan The Ninja has followed up his well-received YEN album with a double beat tape called CRUD / $UD$. The rapper/producer gets to show off his versatility behind boards, crafting a sound familiar to his established listeners and debuting some of the new developments of his style on the two tapes.
“It’s rare when I release beat tapes, so I decided to do a double tape this time around,” Nolan told HipHopDX. “CRUD is the traditional filth that I’m known for and $UD$ is my current ‘experimental’ phase … On $UD$, there’s even a few tracks where I didn’t sample at all … just played everything. Any Hip Hop head will appreciate these tapes for not only its sound but the nostalgic trips that’s attached.”
