Instead of focusing on the deejay as most of their tees do, designer Eric Crandell has shifted his attention to the emcee in his “Microphone Mathematics” design. This graphic is all about taking lyrical content, composition and delivery to the next level. “Microphone Mathematics‚” is a famous phrase attributed to De La Soul, and a phrase that Madlib later took for his Quasimoto record. This design and theme promises to be popular with record collectors as well as those who appreciate the emcee, or the poet.
Designed by DJ Vandal, the inspiration behind Methods‘ “Industry” tee is the industrial revolution and military action that has contributed to the growth of our nation and the capitalist system. He hopes that with hard work and a “don’t quit” attitude, we are inspired to contribute our own ideas and push forward our own ideals into the system. We are reminded by this historical statement with “Industry’s” iconic graphic that celebrates the growth of our nation.
Adapt‘s “State of Mind” tee is representing nothing else but that of the San Francisco state of mind. Based in San Francisco, Adapt took their local pride and found design inspiration in the Bay Area and translated it into a clean and simple graphic. “State of Mind” is also a play off Nas‘ “NY State of Mind” lyrics. The pigeon perching on the A, is the brand’s mascot, symbolizing an urban animal that lives in an urban environment.
Mixerfriendly‘s “Get Money” tee, designed by Justin Marine, is meant to remind us that we are all in this economic “crunch” together. As a spin-off another similar design, “Breakin’,” the “Get Money” graphic intends to reach out to people and inspire them in all which ways. The concept of this tee also lies in Junior M.A.F.I.A.‘s hit. This shirt is part of a collaboration with Fully Laced; each buyer gets a pair of matching shoe laces with each purchase of the “Get Money” tee.
