Veteran rapper Warren G is releasing his seventh studio album this year. The EP, titled Regulate…G Funk Era: Part 2, will be available digitally. The project is the second installment to his triple platinum ’94 album which included the Grammy nominated classic “Regulate” featuring Nate Dogg.
The album is Warren G’s second in as many years. His last album was released in ’08 on the then-Koch Records and featured Snoop Dogg, Bishop Lamont, Ice Cube, and others. Regulate…G Funk Era: Part 2 is scheduled for digital release later on this year.
In other news, another veteran to music, MF DOOM, is also releasing a new album. Titled Expektoration, the album will be a live-performance show in New York, and will feature collaborator Big Benn Klingon. The project focuses mainly on DOOM’s 2004 album MM…Food. The mysterious rapper has broken the album into two Acts divided by a “Star Trek” themed intermission.
Expektoration will release on Sept. 14.
In more album news, Somali-American rapper French Montana is teaming up with Three 6 Mafia to release his sophomore album. Although the upcoming emcee hasn’t yet dropped his debut (his first solo album Excuse My French will release on Akon’s Konvict Muzic), he and Three 6 Mafia–Juicy J and DJ Paul–were able to put down 15 tracks in three days.
“I felt like, ‘Damn, Three 6 Mafia wanna do something with me?’ I felt honored,” he told XXL. “So after that, me and Juicy J kicked it and we just ended up doing the whole album.”
The album does not yet have a label home nor a release date.
