Jay-Z and Young Jeezy opened the BET Awards with Jay’s “Real As It Gets,” a cut off of this year’s Blueprint 3. Now, Jeezy is saying that they plan on recording a video for the track.
“Opened up the BET Awards, me and Jay-Z,” Jeezy told MTV. Shouts out to the homie, man, he stopped through. He was on his way to another show. But that’s what we do. Real ones do real things. I just wanted to do something big for the city. Since the song is on both of our albums, we gonna shoot the video. It’s gonna be crazy. We said, ‘Let’s go ahead and break it in at the BET Awards.‘ ”
Noting that the two emcees will “go dumb,” Jeezy added that the video will feature a lot of luxurious items.
“We just gonna go dumb. Call Rick [Ross] up, everybody. [We’ll have] cars, watches, blunts, money, just go dumb. Dumm-meeee! That’s what we need to do.”
On performing with Jay-Z and a band, he added that he was all for it, as long as he could still have the same topics in his rhymes.
“I’mma keep it all the way live, homie. At this point in my career, I’m like, whatever, I do this from the heart. Everything I do is real to me. If it’s some strings and orchestra with it, and we still talking about what we supposed to be talking about, I’m all for it.”
No official statement from Jay-Z has been made regarding the “Real As it Gets” video as of yet.
In related news, Jay’s services have been requested by Dr. Dre once again, according to MTV [click here]. Dre recently told MTV that Jay has been working on songs for Detox.
“Well, actually, Jay-Z’s just been in the studio doing some writing.”
Even though he’s been helping with lyrics, Dre added that he’d like to have Jigga’s vocals on a track also.
“Hopefully I’ll get him to perform on the record. Jay, come holler!”
With skeptics still referring to it as a myth of and album, there is still no word on when Detox will be released.
