DX News Bits: Rhymefest, Invinceable

    Chicago rapper Rhymefest [click to read] is teaming up with RubyHornet.com for the “Give It To Me” contest, a contest that will give one Rhymefest fan the chance to appear on Rhymefest’s upcoming album El Che when it is released in early 2010.

    [click to read] is asking fans to submit their best 16 bars to RubyHornet.com. The winner will then be featured on the Scram Jones produced song “Give It To Me” as well as the music video for the song.

     “I want to reward my fans for faithfully supporting me over the past few years,”
    said Rhymefest in a statement. “They’ve helped me shine so now I’m opening up the door to let them shine.”

    will be taking submissions up until Tuesday, October 27.

    In other news, California rapper Invinceable has released “A Soldier Never Dies” a song honoring his cousin Anthony Hector Vargas, a Marine who was killed in a street fight earlier this year.

    “Hip hop music is our voice,” said Invinceable. “Rapping about money and women is cool, but I felt like I had to rap about what was on my heart and what was real to me. My cousin lives on. His spirit was in the studio with us while we were recording. He’s an angel in heaven now, and I’m just trying to be an angel for him here on earth. I want the world to know, a soldier never dies, never.”

    “A Solider Never Dies” is produced by Battlecat and also features singer Jon B.

    Vargas was killed back in March only weeks after returning from Iraq.
