DX News Bits: “P.U.R.E.” Digi-Novel, Cash Money’s “Raw Law”, Slip N Slide’s “Care For Haiti”

    – Award winning music critic Brandon Perkins has a new digi-novel, Please Use Rear Exit or P.U.R.E. The book will feature an amalgamation of several different mediums, including literature, music, magazines and video, to tell the story of Mikhail, a recently single citizen of Los Angeles who navigates a cyber transportation system throughout the city. Perkin’s has enlisted the talents of emcee TopBananas. The rapper’s song “Waiting for My Time to Come” has been given the video treatment by directors Conor Simpson and Peter Castagnetti and the piece serves as a crucial element in the narrative structure of Perkin’s digi-novel.     Raw Law: An Urban Guide to Criminal Justice is a new book by Muhammad Ibn Bashir, Esq, an esteemed New Jersey attorney specializing in criminal law. The book, published by Cash Money Content, a division of the record label of the same name, and Atria Books, is intended to shed light on the complicated legal system that often takes advantage of inner city citizens. Bashir explains his intentions and motivations by saying, “The criminal justice is a system that will never respect you unless you demand that it does. This generation has the money, the power, the voice to change this system for the better.” Raw Law will be available in bookstores and online on February 15th.

    – Slip N Slide Records and CARE, a leading humanitarian organization, have called on the talents of Melky Jean and Wyclef Jean to compile and release The Care for Haiti Album.  The album’s first single, “Better”, is being released to commemorate the one year anniversary of the earthquake in Haiti that occurred on January 12th of last year. The 75% of the retail cost of the album will benefit the displaced women and children of Haiti. Leading up to the album’s March 8th drop date Slip N Slide and CARE are presenting an awareness raising digital campaign, 35 Seconds Of Hope.
