DX News Bits: Del The Funky Homosapien, WrittenHouse, Rocklanta

Del the Funky Homosapien has announced the release of his triple CD set in April. The Oakland native will drop a brand new album, Golden Era, and two discs of physically unreleased tracks laid down in ’09, Automatik Statik and Funk Man. Golden Era will be his ninth solo album and will include his first single from the work, “One Out of A Million.”

Golden Era is set to release on April 19.

Moving from the left coast to the east, Philadelphia trio WrittenHouse released their debut album, While You Were Sleeping on Tuesday. The album is preceded by the group’s two mixtapes, Sunshine Philadelphia vol. 2: The WrittenHouse Effect, and Not The Album: The Mixtape.

Consisting of members Charlie K, Chris Conway, and Kush Shalimar, the group has performed alongside acts such as The Roots and Wu-Tang Clan, and is considered to be a progressive voice in a sometimes stagnant Hip Hop landscape.

Up-and-coming Atlanta group Rocklanta Fifty1Fifty also presents a fresh and interesting deviation from the norm. The Rap/Rock hybrid band has made a name for themselves, not only for their own music, but also for their mash-ups of popular Hip Hop songs like Rick Ross’ “BMF” and Wiz Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow.”

The group includes rapper Super Slip, guitarists Ben Greener and Hatch, screamer Erock, and drummer Zack. The Atlanta band will appear on MTV’s My Super Stuntin’ 21 Birthday Celebration with LA Reid’s son Aaron Reid, and are set to drop a mixtape this Friday, February 18.

      1. who the fuck knows man? i have heard so much different shit about that.. like dan the automator has done all the production already (kutmasta kurt locked in his basement or something?) and kid koala has finished all his scrathing and it was just del who needed to finish a few songs. ? umm seems very suspect to me i guess thats why we havent seen it yet. then there was that little video del took of himself recording that one track that is going to be on it. i think that was last fall, he previewed a few beats and they were filthy. BUT we will see what will ever really happen in time. until then we got 3 discs comin up to hold us over for another long stretch of time

    1. Del The Fucking Homosexual? Since when did Nas changed his stage name? Anyways, that alter ego sucks ass. He’s some science fiction nerd like Lupe Fiasco which only anti social nerds who play World Of Warcraft or Black Ops all day without talking to a girl. Fuck them. Justin Bieber is real hip hop.

      It’s Gucci Time!

    2. Deltron 3030 is never coming out. Dan the Automator & Kid Koala worked hard and completed the music for Deltron 2 back in 2003 and Del was too lazy to record his vocals and Dan got pissed and scrapped the album

Instead Del came out with that 11th hour bullshit.

      I’m waiting for Opio’s Vulture’s Wisdom 2.

      1. Tru dat. I hope Opio actually drops VW2, b/c it was supposed to come out right after volume one with a volume 3 that same year. I’m surprised that this Del 3CD isn’t all new music…Automatik Statik and Funkman were released like 2 years ago on his bandcamp website. Funkman was free, and you could buy Auto for as little as $3. I hope I can just buy Golden Age and it better be good. 11th Hour was garbage, and Hiero has been SLACKIN’!

    3. Im all for Del but what im really itchin for is the Deltron sequel, Del be on some stupid Detox bullshit with it. Nice thing with the 3 cd though. Pz.
