Philadelphia-bred producer Cimer Amor is set to release his debut album Taking Nowhere, Somewhere. One half of the duo the CAEN Project, Cimer Amor has produced beats for some of Hip-Hop’s top underground heavyweights, including Sabac Red of Non Phixion, King Syze and Doap Nixon of Army of the Pharoahs, Louis Logic, Side Effect and more. Taking Nowehere, Somewhere drops this June 29 on Coalmine Records, and features Torae, Sha Stimuli, Jakk Frost, King Magnetic, Snowgoons, CAEN Project and more.

In other news, the touring townhall debate forum Rap Sessions: Community Dialogues on Hip-Hop will kick off its fifth annual discussion tour focusing on issues of global Hip-Hop, the recession and recovery efforts in respone to the economic downturn. For this year’s tour, Rap Sessions has teamed up with the Havard Law-based group The Jamestown Project and has enlisted a number of Hip-Hop activists and artists to enage youth and community leaders in dialogue about the entrepreneurial advantages of Hip-Hop and how they overlap with national and international economic recovery a decomcracy-building efforts.
“The nation continues to debate the impact of the current economy on corporate banks and local governments,” said Executive Director of Rap Sessions Bakari Kitwana. “What about its impact on the generation of young people destined to inherit a radically changed nation and world? With the world currently recovering from one of the deepest recessions in the last half century, now is an opportune moment to consider hip-hop’s economic survival strategies.”
Rap Sessions has enlisted a number of emcees and activist to participate in these discussions, including M-1 of dead prez, Blitz the Ambassador, lyricist, actress and State Department Musical Ambassador Toni Blackman and many more.
Finally, on May 19, the Black History 101 Mobile Museum will be on display at The Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center in Manhattan with an exhibit of rare albums, photo, flyers, magazines and other artifacts commemorating the birthday and legacy of Malcolm X.
In addition, Detroit attorney Gregory Reed will discuss three unpublished chapters of Malcolm X and Alex Haley’s The Autobiography of Macolm X. Reed acquired the missing material from an auction at the estate of Haley. Malcolm X’s daughter Ilyasah Shabazz will write a forward to these three chapters. Alex Haley, Jr. is also scheduled to be at the celebration.
