Drake Was Recording New Album During ‘Nokia’ Music Video Shoot

Drake was reportedly working on his highly-anticipated new album in between takes on the “Nokia” music video shoot, according to OVO artist, Smiley.

The Canadian rapper said on a live stream: “Even at the ‘Nokia’ video shoot, during a break, he had a bunch of producers and he was just recording. He’s in that crazy mode, right now.”

Smiley also revealed that Drake disappeared during a recent party to instead focus on making his new album.

He explained: “We’re at a party and he was in the other room by himself eating pasta with wired headphones writing music while we have a whole fucking party going on. He’s on a different mode right now.”

During a recent stream with Adin Ross, Drake announced that he was working on an album.

“Working on a new album right now,” he said, before confirming that it will be a solo project. “It’s a slap.”

Away from the music, Drake has been in the weeds with his lawsuit against his own record label, UMG, who he has accused of defaming him through the release of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us”.

Drake recently amended his lawsuit against the music giant, claiming that Kendrick Lamar’s record breaking performance at the Super Bowl in February was evidence that he was being defamed.

He argued that Kendrick’s self-censoring over the word “pedophile” during his rendition of the diss track, which was viewed by hundreds of millions around the world, has only strengthened his case against UMG.

Universal quickly hit back at the updated filing, warning Drake: “Two weeks ago, his representatives celebrated a ‘win’: the granting of a routine discovery motion. That ‘win’ will become a loss if this frivolous and reckless lawsuit is not dropped in its entirety because Drake will personally be subject to discovery as well.

“As the old saying goes, ‘be careful what you wish for.’”

Drake’s spokesperson snapped back by saying: “Drake welcomes discovery and has nothing to hide. It’s not Drake who should worry; it’s UMG’s current leadership. We look forward to hearing from Lucian Grainge, John Janick, and UMG employees under oath.”
