Drake’s ‘Wah Gwan Delilah’ Stuns Plain White T’s: ‘That’s Not Drake’

Drake‘s remix of “Hey There Delilah” has garnered a reaction from Plain White T’s — and the band, like most listeners, were left with a bemused look on their faces.

Drizzy raised eyebrows on Monday (June 3) when he appeared on a patois-flavored parody version of the 2006 pop-rock hit — dubbed “Wah Gwan Delilah” — alongside Toronto rapper/comedian Snowd4y.

In a video posted to their official social media channels on Wednesday (June 5), Plaint White T’s shared their reaction to the rapper’s bizarre remake of their song.

While listening to “Wah Gwan Delilah” for the first time, lead singer Tom Higgenson looks at the camera awkwardly before questioning the authenticity of the track.

“That’s not Drake,” he says in the clip. “It’s crazy that everybody thinks that it’s real. It seems like it’s very obvious. I don’t know, but it’s cool. Whatever.”

“There’s no fucking way!” bassist Mike Retondo concurs.

The post’s caption reads: “The T’s were too stunned to speak… @champagnepapi.”

“Wah Gwan Delilah” elicited similar reactions from fans following its release earlier this week, especially given the fact that it marks one of his first releases since his perceived defeat to Kendrick Lamar in their recent feud.

“That n-gga kendrick literally lobotomized drake to the point where hes making and recording absolute gobbledygook,” one social media user joked.

Another said: “I can’t believe that Wah Gwan Delilah song isn’t AI. Dr*ke is trying to fight that Not Like Us charges by going super-duper extra ugly Toronto accent and adding a feature on one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard in my life.”

Despite the speculation that Drake’s vocals were made with artificial intelligence, the man himself confirmed the veracity of the track by posting it on his Instagram Stories.

The song has yet to be released on Spotify and Apple Music but is available to stream on Spotify and YouTube.
