Drake and Rihanna‘s relationship seemingly continues to grow more fractured, with the Canadian rap star now refusing to perform their song “Work.”
During the opening night of his and J. Cole‘s It’s All a Blur: Big As the What? Tour in Tampa, Florida over the weekend, Drizzy told the crowd he no longer performs his hit collaboration with RiRi.
Instead, he got the crowd to do the heavy lifting and sing along to the record.
“I don’t sing this song anymore,” he said while performing in a flying cage when “Work” began to play. “You can sing it for me.”
“Work” was released in January 2016 and appeared on Rihanna’s eighth album Anti.
Produced by Boi-1da, the dancehall-flavored song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was nominated for Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards.
Drake previously appeared to target Rihanna — who he was once romantically linked to — on his For All the Dogs album in October.
On the song “Fear of Heights,” he rapped: “Why they make it sound like I’m still hung up on you?/ That could never be/ Gyal can’t run me/ Better him than me/ Better it’s not me.”
Appearing to reference her aforementioned album, he continued: “I’m anti, I’m anti/ Yeah, and the sex was average with you/ Yeah, I’m anti ’cause I had it with you.
“Okay, I’m auntie like your daddy’s sister/ Auntie like a family picture/ And I had way badder bitches than you, TBH/ Yeah, that man, he still with you, he can’t leave you/ Y’all go on vacation, I bet it’s Antigua.”
Then, on “Another Late Night,” Drake called out RiRi’s current partner A$AP Rocky: “I ain’t Pretty Flacko, bitch, this shit get really Rocky/ Damn, what? Dirty how I did him in the Wraith.”
A$AP Rocky seemingly responded to Drake on his Kid Cudi collaboration “WOW,” rapping: “These n-ggas can’t stomach me, gotta go get a mandrake.”
Drake unfollowed both Rihanna and Rocky on Instagram in February 2022 when the couple announced they were expecting their first child.
Mos Def performs in front of 220 people. Drizzy performs in front of 40k. They not in the same league.
That’s because Drake is a pop artist, not a rap artist . You’re proving Mos Def’s point to be true
And Drake’s and his fans feefees were hurt anyway.
I flew from LA to NY to go to a Griselda show. I flew to NY for a Nas & Wu show. I also flew to Toronto for a Drake show. Drake is HipHop. Drake is also a Hit Maker. You can be both.
How many white girls go to a Mos def concert? Better question, how many black men actually go to a drake concert? Think they reason for the numbers is quite obvious.
👏👏👏. Flying to Vegas for a Wu show, drove to Vancouver for a Drake show. It’s all hip hop and majority of the legends fuk wit deake especially Wu and Nas
Dude still ain’t over this woman? Simptastic.
Kelly rowland same name for her song
Yeah. I don’t like him, but why would Drake perform the song where he’s 2nd billed? It’s her song.
Nice to see the 37yr old pop star acting his age.
Rhianna was too much woman for bitch ass Drizzy. He can’t handle that.
