Drake has added yet another accolade to his extensive collection after seeing one of his songs surpass three billion Spotify streams.

Drizzy took to his Instagram Stories on Tuesday (February 20) to celebrate the achievement, sharing a text message from OVO Sound president Mr. Morgan informing him that ā€œOne Danceā€ has become his first track to reach the milestone.

ā€œI remember walking into SOTA & your chalk board with the working track list for VIEWS, there was a song called ā€˜High Powered.ā€™ I asked which it was & you said, ā€˜Itā€™s an 85 beat I havenā€™t recorded yetā€¦but itā€™s the single & itā€™s gone!'ā€

Along with the screenshot of Morganā€™s text, Drake tagged the songā€™s guest vocalist, WizKid, along with producers Noah ā€œ40ā€ Shebib and Nineteen85.

The achievement makes WizKid the first African artist to have a song with over three billion Spotify streams.

Only six other songs have racked up three billion streams on Spotify including The Weekndā€˜s ā€œBlinding Lightsā€ and ā€œStarboy,ā€ Post Malone and Swae Leeā€˜s ā€œSunflower,ā€ Ed Sheeranā€™s ā€œShape of You,ā€ Lewis Capaldiā€™s ā€œSomeone You Lovedā€ and Harry Stylesā€™ ā€œAs It Was.ā€

Released in 2016 as part of Drakeā€™s Views album, ā€œOne Danceā€ reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100, marking the Toronto nativeā€™s first-ever No. 1 single on the chart as a lead artist.

Drizzy spoke about the success of ā€œOne Danceā€ and collaborating with WizKid during an interview with Rap Radar in 2019.

ā€œIā€™m not one of those people that can be inspired by something and be like, ā€˜Ah, well that was inspiring, thanks,ā€™ and then just move on with it under my arm running down the field,ā€ he said.

ā€œI gotta at least honor the person that handed me off the football before I ran for the touchdown. Because when I do things, they do get magnified and amplified, people can sometimes feel uncomfortable.ā€

He continued: ā€œLike, ā€˜Oh okay, ā€˜One Danceā€™ goes No. 1 and now all of a sudden this is Afro inspired.ā€™ But itā€™s like, yeah, WizKid was on the song with me. I had blessings from the real dons in that space. I know those guys, I link with those guys, I go to their shows, they come to my shows, they touch my stage.

ā€œSo itā€™s like, the chatter is one thing but in the community, amongst the real Gs that are really doing this shit, Iā€™m solidified for sure.ā€

ā€œOne Danceā€ previously became the first song to reach one billion streams on Spotify in December 2016.
